How to Mail

Chantelle, on December 9, 2020 at 9:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Lol I realize this is a dumb question, but I’ve literally never mailed anything in my life myself. I’m sending out save the dates in January.

My save the dates are 5.5x4 so they’re pretty square. I think they’re probably the weight of just a normal flat card (no fold). I’m mailing out about 50-70 STDs.
How do I know how many stamps to put on each one? I think square envelopes are worth more stamps or cost more? idk. Do I put the stamps on myself and then take it to the post office? Or can I prepare the STDs/envelopes and bring it to the post office and they can stamp it for me and I just pay for the stamps there? Any help, etc. is appreciated lol

What I did was take one to the post office had them weigh it and tell me how many stamps I would need. Then I bought as many as I needed and went home and stamped all of them.

I did the same thing that Veronica did. I brought one of mine to the post office and asked them what I needed to mail it, purchased the necessary postage for all of them, and then went back a few days later with all of them, ready to be mailed. That way, you don't accidentally use too much or too little postage.

Take to the post office and have them weigh/measure to tell you the proper postage to use.

Veronica's and Lisa's responses are exactly what I was going to say! I always take my letters/cards to the post office and have them tell me what stamps/postage I need. It takes the guess work out of it!

What Veronica said! Square does cost more (for whatever reason), but I am not sure of the exact amount. The post office will be able to tell you. That way you can know for sure and then buy whatever postage stamp you choose while you are at the post office.

You can take them to the post office to get weighed and they can tell you how many stamps go on each. That's your best bet

I highly recommend to go to the post office and weigh them before you put a stamp on it.

And just for future reference, normal-sized letters that weigh 1 oz or less only require a $.55 stamp (the forever stamps). A $.70 stamp covers up to 2 oz.

I brought mine into the post office and showed them one, then they told me how much it would be to mail each one. I bought the appropriate stamps and then just put them in the mailbox
