How to make wedding night special??!

Erika, on January 18, 2018 at 10:25 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

Hello! I am getting married in a couple months (yay!). The only thing I have left to figure out is what to do on our wedding night! We aren't going on a honeymoon until the summer and our venue is only 10 minutes away from our house (my fiance and I have been living together for 2+ years), while the closest hotel is 30 minutes away-because of that we will be coming back to our home after the wedding. It's just what makes sense to us and we are big homebodies! Smiley smile We just don't see the point in paying for a hotel to stay in for half a night just to return the next day to our house.

We have been trying to brainstorm though on some ideas to make it a little more 'special'. I was thinking of maybe having fondue and a nice bottle of wine...does anybody else have any ideas? I would love to hear them all! Thank you! Smiley heart

I think fondue and wine sounds sweet. Maybe add some lingerie and a nice bath after if that’s your kinda thing

We are big homebodies too but we did a mini moon about an hour and a half away. We got married Saturday night and stayed until Tuesday morning (originally it was going to be Monday but I was given an additional day from Work). As much as I love being home there was something special about getting a fancy hotel room to stay in for a few nights. We actually went to a B&B. It helped us to decompress after the wedding. When I’m home, I’m always working on something, cleaning up something, etc. Not being home gave me the chance to really unwind with DH. So if you are able to take an extra day I would reconsider the hotel.

If you do decide to stay home, be sure the house is cleaned up before you leave for the wedding. It would be horrible to come home for something special and have to look at dishes in the sink or laundry waiting to be done.

Thanks for the idea! With the wedding we are both tight on a money and can’t afford any extra days off...plus we want to spend time with our family that is coming into town Smiley smile I definitely agree on making sure it’s a clean house!

Understandable. Then clean house, lingerie, some wine (if you drink) and ask your venue to pack some wedding cake to take with you (besides your top tier). We didn’t get any at our reception and as we were walking out our DOC shoved a box in my hand that had not only some wedding cake but some packed desserts from our sweets table. Made for great midnight snacks 😉 and kept a little bit of the wedding with us for the next two days.

What is romance to you? Have the room set up and waiting for you like that. Maybe candles, rose petals, a Spotify playlist with romantic music... whatever floats your boat.

Definitely make sure the house is clean for when you come home! I'd also put some special favorites in the fridge to enjoy, whether it's champagne or your favorite bottle of wine, chocolate, strawberries, favorite cheeses. Whatever will make you both excited! And try to keep a "take the phone off the hook" atmosphere. Don't let yourselves slip immediately back into checking emails, tidying up, seeing how aunt and uncle are, etc.

Great idea with the phone! I will be doing that! It would be so easy to lay in bed and check facebook...emails...etc. and 'forget' the night!

My sister had the bedroom slightly redecorated by a friend while she was getting ready. New bedding, rose petals, and even drapes, Mr & Mrs pillow. Champagne chilling, plate of sweets ready. She sais it felt like they were at a high-end hotel.
