How to pay venue?

Ashley, on April 12, 2018 at 10:34 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20
We’re getting ready to pay the remainder of the money we owe our venue and it is obviously a large quantity of money, I’m curious what the most secure way to pay for this is? I don’t really want to bring that much in cash of course, would a money order work? A personal check? What did everyone else do? I feel like this is something I should have thought of already but haven’t.

I would do a money order personally.

You should double check with your venue to see if they require a certain form of payment. Our venue required a bank check for the final payment.

Check with your venue. Some venues require a cashier check or money order. You may also be able to do a money transfer, such as Chase Quickpay.

We also had to give a certified check for our final payment.

Thanks everyone it sounds like money order is probably easiest and best, I will check with my venue to be sure.

Bank check is the most secure for all involved, as the money is guaranteed funds

    Cashier's check would be best.

Not sure if it is an option but, our venue let us pay by credit card. We had the money saved so weren't at risk of interest charges but, it let us earn a bunch of reward points which was nice.

You can only purchase a money order for a maximum of $1000. So if you're payment is more than that you would need multiple money orders. My venue accepted my personal check without any issues. If they want something "guaranteed" I would do a cashier's/bank check.

Mine allows for debit/credit card payments. They have my account saved so I email our DOC (she is with the venue) and tell her what to process a payment for,she then emails me a receipt so all good.

We did our deposit via credit card and then half of the minimum food and beverage payment a month out, with the final amount being due the day of the wedding. Since we did consumption bar and about 75% of the food, this left a pretty large sum. Ours was fine with a credit card, although I know that's not always an option. We wanted to put as much as possible on there for the points.

Credit card. That also insures you in case of any issues since they cover problems, plus earning rewards points.

We were able to do a credit card authorization for our venue, then just immediately paid off the card!

Our venue charges a transaction fee if you use a credit card (otherwise I’d totally rack up those points). They accept personal checks though.

I would get a cashiers check from the bank or make your final payment with a credit card for protection

Our venue took our credit card/debit card so we used that for the remainder balance. For the deposits we used personal checks.

My venue had electronic drafts set up to my checking account so as the payments came due their accounts receivable department would email me the invoice and then receipt for the payment. It came directly out of my checking account so it was convenient.

How does one even get a "bank check" in this day and age? My bank claims they do not exist.
