How to plan a honeymoon

Nichole, on May 2, 2019 at 1:12 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15
I am lost on how to plan a honeymoon. I have never planned a trip. We arnt going right after the wedding. I want somewhere tropical but don’t want to spend more than 4K.

Contact a travel agent. Most won't cost you a cent and can match or beat any deals found elsewhere, including online. Do you have a local AAA office? That's a good place to start!

What Victoria said! Get a travel agent! You don't pay them, the places you book pay them! So it takes the stress off of you and you don't have to worry about spending any additional money!

I agree with PPs. Travel agents also know about a lot of insider deals that you wouldn't be able to find on your own. They can help you decide between an all-inclusive resort, a cruise, or some other type of trip.

I was originally trying to book our carribean cruise on my own. But after talking with a travel agent at a wedding show, I realized that we could get a much better trip for the same or less money if I went through her, and let her help us plan it. It's not costing us anything extra, and it is totally relieving my stress over the whole thing. Check it out!!

Where do you want to go or do? I would start googling areas. I’m not a fan of travel agents as I like to be in control of my trip and get the best deals. I use the app Hopper to search for the best deals on flights, then research the location and look for deals or activities

If you don't want a travel agent, I booked for 2 an all inclusive resort with air fair for a 6 days to Cancun last year for about $1800. For our honeymoon, we are going on an 8 day cruise to the Caribbean and 2 additional nights in Puerto Rico for around 3K, which includes air fair. Our honeymoon though was booked with a friend of ours who works part time for a travel agency.

I am not sure exactly, some where tropical that is safe and the cartel won’t abduct me and I wake up in an ice bath. Never smoked and hardly drink.... my organs are too tempting for all of those people.

    Haha.
You might consider an all inclusive resort.
But dont leave the resort. Not saying you couldn't be abducted at a resort, but it's less likely.
I haven't ever used a travel agent and feel super confident in my trip planning abilities. But I'd probably also suggest a travel agent as well.
    Jamaica looks amazing to me.

I always assumed that a travel agent was expensive. Looks like I will be talking to one. Thank you ladies.

We booked through Sandals all inclusive resort. Just narrow down the islands or places you would like to visit and all inclusive is the best way to go, cuts out the headache !

Mexico is amazing for all-inclusive deals in that price point. You could also look into Airbnb or Vrbo and find some lovely places in the Bahamas. Food is expensive in the Bahamas though so do your research. Tripadvisor is awesome for research like that. Safe travels!

Yea it was pretty awesome, we were planning a long vaca in Vegas at the same time, and I just decided to see what the cost at the same time would be for Cancun, and it was only $50 more, I was sold we are heading to Mexico! Best vacation decision we have made Smiley smile

What a great question! I didn't travel a lot before my wedding so I wasn't really prepared to plan a honeymoon myself. We have a couple of really helpful guides, as well as an entire Honeymoon section to help you choose a destination.
