My Aunt is our officiant. She got a one day license through the state. This is the first ceremony she is performing, although she is working to get her license through the state she lives in (which is not where we are getting married)

The problem we are having is coming up with a script for the ceremony. We are keeping it short and sweet, non-religious. We already have guidelines from the state for what is required, and I have come up with the script around our tree ceremony, but I don't know how to craft the rest.

Neither my FH or I are wordsmiths, nor do we want to write personal vows, at least not to recite in front of anyone.

Where do you look to find the right script? Or even an outline that I can fill in the blanks. I've done the google thing, but most of what I find doesn't feel right.

You can just tweak the traditional vows

I was the officiant at my cousins wedding and I researched ceremony scripts for months before I settled on one. I found one I liked and edited it to better fit the bride and groom. I kept them up to date and sent them each version until we found one that they both loved. I researched poems, readings, different vows, etc.

I think that the "hire a pro" comments are harsh, because just because someone isn't a pro doesn't mean that they're going to do a terrible job.

Hire a pro. My brother had a cousin marry him and half our family doesn't believe he is truly married. In addition, I don't remember his ceremony at all. I was sober for the whole wedding. It was nothing special. I still remember a funeral and wedding the minister did for friends of the family years later. He was a phenomenal pro. Get rid of the favors, sign and oot bags. Hire a pro.

    Hire a pro

Have I mentioned how happy I am to live somewhere that you actually can't be married without a pro.

You don't need a dress, your don't need flowers, you don't need anything else that you are planning of having. Literally the only thing needed to be married is an officiant.

What about the bride on here who had her uncle do wedding and he bawled through the whole thing? What a great memory
