Hi All! I had asked my little cousin to be a bridesmaid for my October 30, 2021 wedding. Because we are in a pandemic and my fiance is still battling cancer, we assumed that all invited guests would understand that we expected them to be vaccinated. We also put this on our wedding website. My bridesmaid in question is my little cousin, who is extremely busy and did not return my touching-base texts for a month. Now she is saying that she just won’t be vaccinated. I can’t put my future husband, or anyone else at risk. How do I ask her to step down?

You don’t know our entire situation, but thank you for your opinion!

Absolutely this. Please don't listen to the opinions of the women on here who think your cousin's decision is more important than your fiance's health. Based on some of these commenters, the future is looking dim.

Explain that this is under doctor's orders. And don't reimburse her for the dress, smh. This is HER decision. YOU are in a position where you simply don't have a choice (I mean, given that you want to listen to science/doctors and she wants to listen to...FB? I'm guessing?).

Y'all need to be kind to the woman trying to listen to her fiance's doctors. How dare you.

Explain it is doctor's orders, and not safe for your fiance to be around her if she is unvaccinated, and that everyone needs to be vaccinated to attend. This is a matter of health and goes beyond wedding etiquette. You aren't doing anything rude or wrong.

Well in my state a woman just died from the vaccine and another woman's nursing infant died because she had it. It's not 100% safe and therefore not a simple request. You can't just toss those facts aside when your cousin not wanting the vaccine is basically the whole point.

That being said, she should understand that you're doing all you can to protect your fiance and be okay with the rules for your wedding.

I do agree that you should probably opt for a smaller wedding since it's such a concern, though.

I’m not trying to debate vaccine facts, point blank. Nor am I looking for opinions on the size of my wedding, which I mentioned nowhere in this post.

Okie dokie. Apparently, you missed the "That being said, she should understand that you're doing all you can to protect your fiance and be okay with the rules for your wedding." part of my comment. I won't bother you with an answer again.
