I'm 13 wks along and work as a nuclear medicine technologist as a hospital (I also have a bachelors in biology). I mentioned having a cup of coffee and a coworker oncology (cancer) nurse jumped down my throat about it. I realize some docs still advise against any caffeine intake, but research shows small amounts carry extremely little risk and are "ok". As is also stated in "Panic-Free Pregnancy" written by an OB, which dispels many popular pregnancy conceptions.

Furthermore, my OB said limited caffeine intake (I only have 1 cup/day) is fine. I realize everyone is entitled to their opinions, but this nurse was quite pissy with me, and I was NOT asking for her opinion. She made me out to be a bad mother and I'm offended and a little hurt. I told her my OB, a specialist in the field (unlike her, which I didn't say) knows and oked it and that I wouldn't do anything I thought would jeaopardize the baby but she wouldn't let it drop. This is not the first situation I've had at work.

Thank you for the comments. It brightened my mood. The funny thing is we work with radiation (unavoidable- they reduce the amount you can get while pregnant and tell you once a month after the fact how much you got), which you think these women would be more concerned about than a stupid cup of coffee or rare cup of wine. Urgh...

Mrs.S, I completely agree and personally attest to being screwed up my folks, lol.

Ryan, I love the stunting growth part and I might have to try saying that with a straight face.

Tammy, so true! Good point/very funny. Smiley smile

Jennifer, I really like the stress comment! Very to the point. Smiley smile
