How to Put My Wedding Dress On

Lisa, on February 10, 2020 at 6:16 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 16
Hello ladies!

My wedding date is approaching and I just got my dress back. They said I need to put it on over my head, but I'm concerned with getting my hair all messed up and my makeup getting all over my dress. Any suggestions? I have a petticoat slip on for underneath and that has to go on first and I can't step into the wedding dress.

No I have a petticoat that needs to go on first so it makes it too big for me to step into

Hmm, you'll probably just have to have your bridesmaids or family help you and just do it slowly and carefully.

Are you able to put the dress on by stepping into it, and then lifting it up to slide the petticoat under it?

Practice putting it on without makeup and just see what you can do

I'll have to try. I have a corset bra that goes into of the petticoat too. Think I will be having to practice.

Is the corset bra attached to the petticoat or does it slide into it? If it slides into/under it... you might be able to still slide the petticoat on after the dress.. depends on your dress. It’s hard to give advice without seeing it, but I would try it. Worst case it doesn’t work and you’re back to square one.

Hands straight above head, protecting your head. If possible, someone on each side. Pull you hands down as the dress passes. You could also try a piece of cloth like silk (pillow case) over your head.

I had this same issue. Couldn't step into my dress bc of my petticoat. She ended up sewing it right into my dress.

Buy a shower cap and put that on over your face to protect the dress.

Agree with Samantha, shower cap for hair and face! I also like the silk pillowcase idea - would be funny for pictures haha

I was thinking of trying that! I'm thinking I need to practice before the big day.
