How to Save on Postage??

Summerfield Bride, on October 24, 2014 at 10:13 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

Ok ladies I'm getting my STD's in the mail today and I'm already thinking about how much postage will cost for sending out the STD, sending out wedding invitations, and then also including ANOTHER stamp for RSVP's. Please tell me there is a way to save!!

Did you make your STDs as a postcard? That would save money.

Keep your invitations standard shape and light weight so they go at the one ounce rate.

    What about postcard RSVPs?

Well I actually did magnets for my STD. I really had no idea until just looking into stamps that postage was cheaper on postcards. Oh well!

We are doing our RSVPs online through our WW website. We are going to give an invitation and an info card that says to go to the website link and rsvp. It's a little confusing to set up (I had FH do it for me) but once you do it's really practical! and no extra postage! Also make sure that your STDs and invites are light enough to where you wont need more than 1 stamp.

Send STDs to only immediate family and those who you def want to be there. You do not have to send to everyone.

Send STD via email. We used paperlesspost.com

For invites opt and stress for online RSVP and do not include the stamp for the RSVP card. If the do not want to provide a stamp they have the online option.

I did postcard STDs, regular size envelopes for my invites (49 cents), and online RSVPs.

You can do RSVPs through your wedding website if you have one.

FH has been 'collecting' stamps through work and bring me some home at a time to help :x

I skipped the STD's and I did postcard RSVP's. I also asked for heart style postage stamps for Christmas. My sister bought me $100 worth if stamps for my Christmas gift Smiley smile

I saw that place online but decided on Summerfield Farms for my Ceremony and Reception. I'm visiting next weekend and I can't wait.

We're only mailing STD's to the OOT guests. Everyone that we see on a regular basis I'm just handing them a STD in person. We're doing standard size and weight invites so it won't cost extra postage, and the RSVP cards will be postcards.

We did postcard Save the Dates and our invites were standard size/weight too (no ribbons, lace, rhinestones - just a 4x6 card. We did do RSVP cards - not everyone is tech savvy for RSVP websites (I work in IT and have found them a pain in the past myself)

Definitely watch the weight of the invitations. Even without added lace, ribbons, etc, with the extra inner envelope, response card, and card with directions/website info, I went just over the limit into 70 cents/invitation range.

I'm asking that guests RSVP by calling me or emailing me. I have a relatively small guestlist and I hope this helps saves money/time/environment.

Post card RSVP's or online RSVP's help. Post card Save the dates. And invites that fit normal forever stamp price are some of the ways to save on postage.

Don't forget - you are also going to need Thank you card stampsSmiley smile I did an email STD, kept the envelopes under 1 forever stamp, stamped the RSVPs (and have gotten the majority of them back), and have enough for all the thank you cards afterwards. I also bought a bunch of forever stamps prior to the last rate hike.

I actually did not do STD's. I did make my RSVP's as post cards to save on postage. You can check usps for the standards on post card size and they only cost 34 cents.

I'd skip the STD's, do postcards for the RSVP's and make sure your invite is a standard size and weight
