Tijahra, on January 22, 2020 at 1:53 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 24

Hi all!

Im testing floating candles for a center piece at my wedding and i LOVE this but i cant seem to stop the floating candle from moving to the side? I cant seem to find wider LED ones. Does anyone know of a method to stop them from moving? Thank you.How to stop floating candles from moving??? 1

I think that ultimately defeats the purpose of a floating candle since they are supposed to move but assuming that is one of your centerpieces, I would suggest using a clear fishing line and using hot glue to glue one of the line to the bottom of your candle and tying the other end to the purple flower part. It probably wont completely stop if from moving but if you get the line just right, it will help to anchor it into the middle more. You will probably have to play around with the length of the line to see what works best. Your centerpiece is super cute though!

I think it looks fine. I did go and look at others just out of curiosity and the only ones dead center are the ones that have candles the size of the vase they used. (pictures included and excuse the sideways one lol) The others were moving freely and even off to the side. Ultimately it is your wedding vision and you should love how it looks.

I don't think anyone will notice them floating to the side because you did such a beautiful job with the overall piece. They look good to me.

The idea of “floating candles” is that they don’t stay in one place. I wouldn’t stress about that.

    Hi Tijahra,

I think those look gorgeous, even if the candle is floating off to the side. If you do want to try keeping them in place you can try using some fishing wire and a fishing weight (I think they're called a sinker). But put the sinker on the bottom of the glass beneath the marbles to hide it, and run enough fishing line (clear so you can't see it) up to the candle so it's taught and glue it in place and maybe that will keep your candle from traveling too much?

Can you find bigger candles? They will move, but may not be too noticeable if they are slightly smaller then the vase/glass.How to stop floating candles from moving??? 4

You need a larger candle i am using floating candles myself but my candles are submersible so they are small. the surface tension of the water is causing it to go to the side. You need a larger candle so it can stay in the middle. Get one close to the circumference of your vase.

I think they look fine. For mine, I used a slightly bigger candle and my flower came up to the top of the water and the way the flower was made, the candle sat right there on top of it so it didn't move at all.

First I need to give my 16 year old daughter who give me this ideal a shout out thanks NivSmiley heart ..I used these little clear balls(Orbeez) that you soak over night then put them in the vase and place the candle on top of it makes everything look like they are floating and keeps the candle from moving
