How to transfer DIY centerpieces?

SpringBride23, on July 27, 2017 at 8:58 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

So I am really hoping to do my hydrangea centerpieces myself (stems bought from sams club), however I'm not sure if this is possible due to my situation. We live 1.5 hours from our venue and the night before the wedding we are going to stay the night in a hotel. Due to this situation, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to DIY these centerpieces. I am afraid they will wilt either in transport or the night before. Has anyone been in this situation? Where were the flowers kept until the day of?

Following because I was also planning on doing this same thing. I have heard that hydrangeas need a lot of water so making sure they stay hydrated to prevent wilting.

I think hydrangeas would survive pretty well. I'm no connoisseur of flowers by any means, but I'm a trial and error kinda girl. We are using hydrangeas and eucalyptus. I plan on doing a test run and seeing how they survive. Maybe you could try something similar?

This is some flower care per fiftyflowers... I've heard their advice is pretty good. https://www.fiftyflowers.com/product/hydrangea-ivory-white-flower.htm

I delivered my DIY centerpieces to the venue the afternoon before my wedding. I didn't have hydrangeas, so I don't know personally how resilient those are, but my flowers stayed in great shape. Though I only needed to transport mine about 20 min from my parents' house to the reception venue. I'm sorry that isn't more helpful, but what I did worked fine for me.

Maybe check with the venue? They may have a cooler that would work or, with your wedding being in March, they may have a place outside to keep them cool but not frozen?

I wouldn't try to keep them in your car/room....

I've done this before, I had the arrangements in my spare bathroom which gets good central air. I sure the Green foam was always wet. Make sure you cut the hydrangea on an angle so they can drink. I also sprayed the flowers them-self with a water bottle.

They should be fine, keep them cool and wet. I would totally do a trial run just to ease my mind though.

Im leaning toward doing my own as well and looking into sams club. Thankfully, I am getting married at my sisters and i will just have them delivered to her house. And place them in the buckets of water.

My wedding is on a saturday at 4pm. So not sure if i should place them out friday night ( it will all be outdoors) or just do it saturday morning. Suggestions to those who have already done this... when did you set out your centerpieces.
