How to uninvite someone?

Kreshelle, on February 15, 2021 at 10:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
Hey Ladies, I sent out my save the dates and I'm getting ready to send the invites out, but FH doesn't want to invite some people we already sent save the dates to. I don't know what the proper thing to do would be, please help!

The proper thing is to have them there, and keep your word. You asked months ago, and they may have turned down another event they cannot get back. It would be wrong to do something like this without a really compelling reason, like they attacked you .

    Agree with this.

Why are you wanting to uninvite them?

To be honest I'm not sure FH didn't want me to send the invite and they're in his family, I already sent out save the dates and didn't think it would be nice not to extend the invitation.

Like Judith said, unless they committed some crime against you or another heinous act toward you, you need to extend the invite and hope they don't attend. Usually invite lists are discussed together before the saves go out to make sure that all the correct people are invited and those who shouldn't be on the list are not invited. What's done is done unfortunately.

I think it depends why he wants to uninvite them.

The plot thickens as to why he doesn’t want to invite them! Unfortunately, etiquette dictates that those who get a STD also gets an invitation.

You don't uninvite someone unless you want to end your relationship with that person. Unless it's Covid-related, which I would have no idea of knowing because you didn't mention why they would be uninvited.

Unless you're downsizing due to Covid restrictions, everyone who received a save the date needs to receive an invitation. Unless, as others mentioned, these people have since committed a serious crime against you

Adding in: Not sending an invite after sending the Save the Date is usually a way to terminate any relationship you have with them. So, like others have said, barring a horrible reason or covid restrictions they should get an invite. Especially if your FH doesn't want to end any relationship he may have with them.

The time for him to decide that was before you sent STDs, not after. Now it would be very rude for you not to invite them.
