How to wear a cathedral veil outdoors

Jillian, on July 10, 2017 at 11:48 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Happy Monday! So I definitely want a veil but I originally thought I wanted fingertip. After seeing gorgeous pictures of cathedral veils, I now want one!

How would this work outdoors? Should I buy two veils, one to wear down the aisle and one for pictures? I'm just not sure how this would work. I would be terrified of ripping it or something. I'll essentially be walking down a dock if all goes as planned.

Also, my train is pretty long so I would want the veil even longer.

Any tips are greatly appreciated!

I think it would look great with an outdoor wedding! I would not get two veil but see if a seamstress can assist with making it so you could possibly pin it when you are dancing?

My veil is chapel length, and I agree with Kate, I'm just planning to loop it over my arm to walk around for pictures.

I wore a cathedral length veil for my photos and ceremony outside and didn't really any issues. Most of our photos were in grass, so there wasn't really anything for it to catch on, but I did mostly pick up my veil and train to move around for photos because our photos were before the ceremony and I wanted it to be clean for the ceremony. Our aisle was brick pavers, then a wood platform/deck with like 2-3 steps up for the actual ceremony. My veil had a heavy lace around the bottom, similar to what you attached. I didn't have issues with it catching any where except on the very last step of the deck (I did feel a bit of resistance on the brick pavers, but nothing bad that actually caught), I don't think it would have ripped or anything if I had just pulled my head forward, but my MOH noticed it and picked it up along with my train to rearrange it for the ceremony--so totally not a big deal! If you want a cathedral veil--wear it! I do not regret it one bit! Love your dress BTW!

I just let mine trail behind me at my outdoor wedding. No plans to preserve though so I didn't care about dirtying it. I fixed it to hair with a comb and took it out after ceremony and pictures

If you're near the water/there's a breeze, just make sure that the veil is secured in your head! Mine flew off during my ceremony!! haha

I got a cathedral veil to wear for ceremony and pictures. I also wanted to have a shorter veil to wear for reception. Is this something brides do?
Wanted to have a slightly different tradition and try something different with veil. Also thinking of tying cathedral veil around my groom and my chair for reception as a unity thing.

I'm wearing my cathedral veil for ceremony and got a fingertip for reception and photos. I want to do photos with both veils though so will ask my photographer the best way to do that. My wedding is also outside but luckily on concrete, good idea looping veil accross arm as you walk around finding good location for photos.

I bought a cathedral veil for ceremony and a bird cage for the reception. I know two totally different looks but I love both looks so decided on each.
