I feel like the the midst of preparing for a wedding somethings do not go as planned, or in general we can all feel a little stressed or under pressure. But it is always good to take a step back, breathe, and remember how it all started.

It is great to hear people gush about their FH/FW or even DH/DW, and how their journey to being/becoming a married couple started.

So how were you proposed to or how did you propose? Smiley smile

His place, very private. He cooked and changed into a suit afterward. Very simple but I loved it.

My FH took me out in Philly with one of my close friends to revisit our old places we loved when we lived there. We froze our butts off and had such a fun day reminiscing. Lo and behold my FH, after living in MA for so long forgot how to get to Penns Landing which is where he first said I love you to me. We went back home and we're watching super cheesy hallmark movies and he proposed while we were snuggled up on the couch.

    I love this post!

I had been on practicum out of town for the last month, and was surprising my then boyfriend by coming home a day early. He panicked when he realized I was coming home, because that was the day he was going to pick everything up including the ring to propose. He made an excuse saying he got called in to work and I was SO mad because I came home early to surprise him. After we had eaten at our favourite pizza place, he set up a bunch of candles and music on our rooftop patio and called me up, where he proposed!

I love all of these stories!

We were hiking in the mountains with one of our dogs and another friend. We stopped to eat a gourmet lunch of PB&J with chips. When we were done eating I was looking over the landscape, it was so beautiful, and said, "Now honey, this would be a beautiful place to propose!" (open mouth and insert foot....I didn't even know she had the ring). A few minutes later she walked over and sat down next to me and started saying how much she loves me and how much she loves our family (we have three furbabies). I started to laugh hysterically because I tend to do that in moments when I am extremely nervous. When she started to dig around in her backpack I asked what she was looking for and her response was "I think I have some gummy bears in here somewhere." At that moment panic struck me, I thought oh my God, she isn't proposing and I have just built this up to be the moment. So the panic caused me to start crying. A moment or two later she pulls out the ring box. She tells me that it would be a honor to have me as her wife and asked me to marry her. The crying continued with kissing and hugging. Our friend tried to video it all but her phone filled up with storage in the middle! I looked a hot hot mess but wouldn't change it for the world. It was so perfect.

I'm still new here, so it's great to read everyone's stories!

I had a suspicion that he was going to propose to me while we were on vacation at Ocean City, Maryland - the first place that we ever went away together, and every year since, for the previous four years. Long story short, something happened that made us feel that our room was broken into, and we were both frantically searching for some money that was missing. When we couldn't find it, I said, "This sucks, but let's not ruin our vacation over it - we brought plenty of food and drinks, and I have my credit card if we'd like to go out to dinner one night, so let's just enjoy it since we're already here."

Hours go by, and he is taking it much worse than I was, which was when it hit me. Was there something else more important that might have been stolen? I felt horrible, but had to ask him: "Is there something else missing too?" This was his cue to walk into the bedroom, come back out with a ring, get on one knee, and ask if I still wanted to marry him, even if he's a "broke idiot." Sounds bad in print, but it was very meaningful to both of us, and we both broke down in tears as I said "of course!"

He was planning to propose at a restaurant later in the week, while watching the sunset over the bay, but I didn't have to wait that long. And, it was nice to have a private proposal in the condo where we always stay - already a special place to us and now even more so. Also, we eventually found the money - it somehow ricocheted under the middle of the bed, even though we checked there several times in our search. No idea how we missed it. It was a roller coaster of emotions type of week.

We got back together in March 2016 after not being together for a very long time. My bride told me she still loved me and wanted to know if I felt the same. I said if we get together this time it's going to be forever so I wanted to make sure and take our time before making a decision. We kept quiet about our relationship for a few months but had already started the planning of the wedding without telling anyone we were dating. I had ordered the rings that have the saying from nightmare before Christmas "simply meant to be". I gave it to her as a proposal even though we were already planning the wedding.

I love reading all the sweet proposal stories!

My FH proposed to me in Costa Rica. It was our first international trip together, and we rented a lovely little bungalow in the jungle. We spent the week swimming and laying on the beach, going horseback riding, ziplining through the jungle and eating amazing. On our last night there, we were standing outside watching the stars when he got down on one knee with the ring. It was perfect! Smiley smile One of my favorite memories

My FH and I spent Christmas Eve in the Napa/Sonoma area eating lunch at one of my favorite restaurants and then attending the Christmas Eve service at the church we're ultimately getting married at. On the way home, we stopped in this neighborhood that is known for its Christmas lights and walked around looking at all the beautiful lights. It was so cold though so I wanted to go home after only a few streets. On the way to the car FH went to open my door but as he did so "dropped" the keys and bent down to pick them up. I thought he was having trouble getting back up because of his bad back, but as I reached down to help him up, he pulled me towards him and that's when I saw the ring box. I was very surprised, and it is hard to surprise me!

We climbed 2,744 steps on the incline in Colorado, and he was pacing the speech throughout the climb, and at the top, he asked if I wanted to take the next step with him in life! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

I almost ruined it because I felt really sick and tried to cancel plans on him!

As a backstory, I love glow in the dark stars, and he had helped me put 1000+ of them on my bedroom ceiling when I was a teenager. It was amazing and I loved it. So fast forward to years later, and I go over to his house. He told me he wanted stars on his ceiling too, and wanted my help. He already had a bunch of stars above his bed but it was a thick cluster of them so I thought it was super weird and asked why he did that. He said it was just what he could reach standing from his bed. So we put some up, then he shines a black light on them and tells me to lay on the bed and close my eyes and we would open our eyes and look up at the same time. So we open our eyes, and I see that in the big cluster of stars he'd put up, some of them glowed a different color and said "Marry Me?" It was so sweet! And then he fumbled for the ring in the dark, blinded me with a flashlight, and I almost threw up (remember I said I was sick)! Haha, it was perfect though.

We took a trip to North carolina, my first time out of texas, and we spent the day in Southport where parts of Safe Haven and A Walk to Remember were filmed. He found the pier from a walk to remember and video recorded the whole thing. I thought he was setting up the camera with automatic timer for a picture, but when he walked over he handed me a copy of The Notebook and had wrote inside and when I was done reading he was on 1 knee and asked me to marry him. Smiley smile

I told him he proposed the next day or he moved out. I knew he had a ring, for a month. All our friends bailed on his plans, I was so mad I slept on the couch the night before. He ended up proposing as I got out of the shower and out my pajamas back on, my hair was sopping wet, no make up. Gave me a red rose from our 4 month old puppy, now 1.5 yrs, and a circus rose-my favorite from him then pulled out the ring. I dont remember what he said. I was stunned he did it like that and the ring was gorgeous.

FH planned to propose in the Bahamas last October and then a hurricane wiped out the airport and resort 3 days before we were supposed to arrive.. took him 9 months to recuperate from the nerves and he proposed 3 weeks ago on our favorite beach here at home. And I guess some of the nerves lingered because he couldn't spit it out fast enough.. "hey do me a favor?" What? "Marry me?" Smiley smile

My FH popped the question after we finished a horse and carriage ride of Central Park! We were in NYC for a long weekend and just walking back to the hotel when he asked. He wanted to do it on the ride but the guy was giving us a tour

He had planned to ask me on the mountain while snowboarding (that's how we met) but I was home when the ring was delivered :-P He signed for the FedEx package, I laughed, he said "well you know what this is, so I'm doing this now!" Still in PJs, drinking coffee, Bourne Identity on in the background :-) Simple, casual, us.

My FH proposes to me at a dragstrip in NC! It was amazing because we met at one in 2008. There was supposed to be an event going on that day and he got all of our friends together and when we arrived at the event we were told it was cancelled because of the rain. So FH had to think on his feet and talk with the manager of the place and explained the situation. Her ended up telling me we were going to take pictures of his truck on the dragstrip and that's when he did it! It was so perfect for us!!

Mine Isn't a grand proposal story but it was perfect and I loved it. We were sitting in bed about to lay down with our 1 month old twins in the crib beside the bed and we were just talking and I made a comment about would we ever get married. He looked at me and said I can give you the ring right now. I was like yeah right so he got up pulled it out the closet and got down on one knee and proposed. It was so sweet and special especially with our babies right there beside us.

Some of these stories are making me tear up!

I sort of gave up on getting engaged, as we were nearing our 10 year anniversary and we had talked about it for a while and still nothing....

Anyways, I had just come home from a week and a half long trip without him. He cooked up a nice meal for us and patiently listened to me talk his ear off about my trip until I finally noticed there were balloons in the hallway leading to our bedroom. He set up a bunch of balloons and printed out pictures of us set up on our bed. And he asked me right there, but he got nervous and completely rushed through his speech. I was utterly shocked and the first word out of my mouth was the f-word. He was like "is that a yes?" Lol
