I feel like the the midst of preparing for a wedding somethings do not go as planned, or in general we can all feel a little stressed or under pressure. But it is always good to take a step back, breathe, and remember how it all started.

It is great to hear people gush about their FH/FW or even DH/DW, and how their journey to being/becoming a married couple started.

So how were you proposed to or how did you propose? Smiley smile

Honestly my proposal wasn't that spectacular because FH and I are both super awkward and right after he asked a bunch of random people walked by.

We were in Fort Bragg, by the peer at the end of town if anyone has ever been there, at the top of the hill and I turned around and he was on one knee shaking like a leaf. Of course I said yes, and it was much funnier than it sound and I wouldn't change anything about it, it just wasn't the Cinderella moment every little girl dreams of.

My FH and I have been trying to be more healthy. So on the day, he planned this really cute early morning walk to watch the sunrise. Sadly it was raining and I am not a morning person. So he convinced half asleep me to walk around our campus instead in about 3 hours. We walked around campus and ended up sitting in a garden that has a small fountain. He told me how thankful he was that I threw a tennis ball at his face freshmen year of HS and loves me so much. He then told me to cover my eyes. He pulled the ring box out of his sock! Got down on one knee.

FH planned a getaway trip for my birthday weekend back to our college town. It has always been a special place for us. I was pretty sure it was coming because FH is not a planner. On the first night I suggested we go to a happy hour and he suggested kayaking, hiking or wine tasting. Since there were no good happy hours we decided to hike and he took me to this beautiful trail on the bluffs overlooking the ocean. We walked around, climbed some bluffs and found a super private area and settled in for awhile. We waited for the sunset but it never came since it was cloudy. Right as I was getting really cold and saying we should head to the car, he stalled me long enough to propose. It was the best weekend ever. He also planned two fancy dinners (in case he chickened out the first night!) a mimosa brunch cruise and couples massage.

I proposed to my future FH at a sold out show in front of 3000 during a post show Q&A with the performer. I was already beginning to think about planning something anyway. I had actually fantasized beforehand about trying to contact said performer ahead of time to coordinate something but I figured it was such a long shot I never did. Fast-forward to the show, and here we are in the top balcony, watching the Q&A, I stick my hand up (again, long shot... sold out show, top balcony, no one ever gets picked up here) and I think to myself... "if this ends up in my hand I'm going to do it." And all of the sudden there's a microphone in my hand. It felt like fate. I couldn't think of anything else to say so I went with my gut and asked him. And we got a standing ovation. It was so cool because a bunch of people nearby came up to us after the show and sent me videos they took. Friends of friends who went to the show would bring it up in conversations and our friends would be like "I know them!" so we were also viral for a little while after.

My fiance and I were just hanging out in my room while he both had bad days. We started crying from having a bad day and held each other. He said "I may not have a lot but Liz, will you marry me?" I nodded my head while crying

Oh boy. I gotta start with the first date first. Also, know that FH is five years older than me.

Our first date was at this Boy Scout camp we both volunteer for (we actually met there too!), but I didn't realize it was a date until a few months later! February 2016 we were at camp for a planning camp out and stuck inside all day- I remember the weather was somewhat nasty and cold. At some point, we were sitting and getting a little stir crazy, I was reading a letter from my sister who was still in boot camp at that point, and FH says to me, "Do you want to get out of here for awhile?" We spent two hours walking around camp and eventually ended up at the amphitheater, just talking and catching up. There were a few more is-this-a-date? dates, and then we officially started dating, lol.

We knew early on in our relationship that we had found "The One", so it was easy for us to talk about what our future together- what our family would be like, personal and professional goals, and how we would grow old together.

March 18, 2017, we were at camp again, and we had been stuck inside all day, and at one point during a break FH said to me, "Do you want to get out of here for awhile?" So just like our first date, we walked around camp, talking, and eventually ended up at the amphitheater. At one point, we were talking about coming back to be rangers after we retire and he said, "So, we've talked a lot about having a family getting old together. I think there's a few steps we need to take care of first." And I say, completely oblivious, "Yeah, we gotta get old first, but you have a head start on me." After some laughing and a promise from me that I wouldn't interrupt him again, he got on one knee, waited for me to stop crying, and asked me to marry him.

I love reading all these posts!

FH surprised me with a trip to Puerto Rico. When we arrived, we hiked El Yunque. We got up to one of the observation towers where he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Everything was perfect!

My FH proposed to me on Christmas in front of our tree. We were at my parents house for Christmas and it was the first year both of our families were combined for the holidays. We went to take a picture in front of the tree and I turned around and FH was on one knee!! It was everything I imagined and it was so nice to have our loved ones there for our special moment. My favorite picture is where my FH is clearly stoked for what's about to happen, ring box in hand, and I have no idea what is about to go down Smiley smile

He proposed with my dog. He tried the box to her back and sent her in to "find mommy!"
