Medieval Celtic Christmas Fantasy. We are both Irish and are incorporating lots of our heritage and my mom's family is also Scottish - my grandfather was very Scottish - so we are basing our colors off of one of his family's dress tartans - purple, forest green, and blue. My fiancee's family tartan is purple and gold so we are using some of that too. Our venue for the reception is a reproduction Norman castle hall (12th-13th century) so we are decorating with lots of flags and I'm going to be making a banner with our family crest - that my fiancee designed and drew - I'll be appliquing it onto something satiny and then backing with a heavier fabric - just not sure what yet. The hall also looks like the Great Hall at Hogwarts if you take just one wing at a time (it is a Giant L shaped room) so we are hanging floating candles above the dining space/side. We are also getting married in December so our favors/escort cards will be ornaments we are making that will be displayed on a tree when everyone enters and our centerpieces are gold manzinite trees that will have ornaments on them corresponding to the theme of the table - each a different fantasy world/location from our favorite books/movies/video games.

Our wedding is in a newly made barn. It is lighter wood and very pretty. I am steering away from the typical rustic look and going for an elegant/romantic look. It's going to be simplistic with candles, glassware, and flowers. My colors are navy and blush with accents of gold.

We have a very classy yet comfortable feel. Glass vases and small mason jars will be filled with candles and orchids and surrounded by chocolate mints and pearls. Literally the opposites next to eachother but in a beautiful balanced way. The orchids will be peachy colored, mints foil wrapped, white authentic pearls, and tea light candles. Napkins will be royal blue and tablecloths ivory. These colors will be in the isle as well as on the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Photos promised when it's all over! I am handmaking the center pieces and etching the glass vases.

We described our wedding to be effortless, modern, and boho. We really were keen on intricacies and details, while being a true reflection of my husband and myself. We steered clear from Pinterest as most we could— scripted typography and typical color palettes. Our stationery was more neon sign influenced, and felt more iconic and modern.

It took a while to break from the norm as we chose navy to be our color for our wedding party, and originally wanted just greenery and neutral florals. A month out from the wedding I ended up pivoting and thinking that if we were going to spend money on florals, they'd better be memorable and noticeable. We ended up infusing in a ton of colors from a rug that we were using during our ceremony— navy, cyan, yellow/gold, white, black, wine and cream.

The space we had was a restaurant with beautiful wood flooring and industrial feels of brick and beams. Our decor ranged from a cardboard cutout, felted letter board, a breadbox for a card box, a jenga guestbook, mismatching florals/bouquets/floral vases to be taken home in addition to the mug favors.

In the end it was a daytime boozy brunch wedding dance party and everything had to fit under the vision of my husband and myself.

Rustic fall.... since the "chalkboard look" seems to be pretty popular right now, that's what we used for our save the dates, invitations, rsvp cards and our rsvp cards for the rehearsal dinner.
