How young is too young for a flower girl

FH has a baby cousin who will be 3 next summer. She's extremely bright and is generally well behaved for a child her age (though with kids, you really can't predict anything). Is she too young to handle being a flower girl (ie. getting herself down the aisle while throwing rose petals)?

Our flower girl was 3 and did a great job! But I think it depends on her personality. Just have her mom ready to scoop her up if she freaks out Smiley smile

I would consider the time of day you are having the wedding. Does she still nap? What time is her usual dinner and bed time? Is she comfortable with strangers or in crowds?

Three is a fun age where they understand a lot more, usually 2-3 step directions sometimes even 4. They understand the importance of emotions and how people feel but still are controlled by there own emotions. I would ask her mom, she will be able to give you the best answer. Also try showing her videos of flower girls and practice make a fake aisle. I watched a girl who was just turned three and she did a really good job at a friends wedding.

When my oldest niece was 2 1/2 she was the flower girl in my brothers wedding. She was able to walk down the aisle alright, but couldn't stay put for the entire ceremony. She ended up leaving the front to go sit with grandma. It really just depends on the kid. In my brothers case, they had a feeling she wouldn't stay up there and planned for it. As long as you have a plan for that you should be fine.

Even the brightest and best-behaved 3 year old will freeze and freak out when 50 people are staring at them. If they're being escorted or it's a very short aisle they'll probably be fine. But all on their own on a long aisle, I'd pass.

Our FG and RB will be 5-almost-6 at our wedding, and will go down together.

Then don’t have her. That age is unpredictable and with the excitement of the day she will likely not be her normal self. You have to prepare for crying and screaming lol. Most people I know who have a very young flower girl have their mom (who is normally a bridesmaid) walk down with her. If you don’t like that idea then probably best to not have her as a flower girl.
