How's Wedding Planning Going?!?!?

Amber, on September 1, 2017 at 8:34 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

WHY do so many people ask this question?!?!?! Do they seriously want an answer or is this just something people say to someone that they know is planning a wedding. I have no clue how to answer this question because there is no reasonable answer. It's either a generic "planning is going good" or "I want to cry every time I think about how we should have eloped" LOL

Lol and to think we have people come on here that complain no one asks about planning.

I also hate that question. Instead of "how are you" or "what's new" it's, "so hows wedding planning going" Like..the same it was when you asked me two days ago.

It's just something people say to make conversation. If you don't feel like getting into it, the proper answer is probably something like, "It's going well, thank you for asking. How have you been?"

My boss asks me every day. I see this man every single day of my life except weekends. It's a sweet gesture, but literally nothing has changed since yesterday.

Lol Amber yeah, apparently not asking every second of every day of every month/year before their wedding is super offensive.

Definitely agree that it's just a conversation starter, people think weddings and babies are social things so they use that when they can. I always say, "it's going!" and promptly change the subject. Too many people at my old job thought that by getting details, they were entitled to an invite as well as telling me how "not their taste" my choices were.

Yeah this doesn't bother me. I just answer with "Good!" or "We're just enjoying the engagement since we have plenty of time."

If anything it just shows that the person is trying to take interest in your life instead of asking the generic "How are you?" all the time.

Hahaha I never know how to answer this either - especially that I'm coming down to the wire! Do you really want to know that I almost fired my MUA? Or that I bought the wrong color shoes?

I got so annoyed with a few co-workers asking constantly (and are not invited), that I just said I was done planning and waiting for my day. It took about 2 or 3 times, but they finally stopped.

Whenever I'm at family functions, my aunt ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS asks about our wedding (sidenote: been engaged for 3 yrs but I was also 19 so waiting made sense) I wouldn't even be out of college and she'd try to pressure me into a NJ wedding. Like what? I feel like now she asks to see if I've changed my mind. But I digress, and agree. Like do they want to actually hear how when I think of centerpieces my soul dies? Or just "it's great"

I was seriously asked this a couple weeks after FH and I got engaged! It's irritating and always asked by people who aren't invited!
