Hunting on your Honeymoon

We are planning a two week honeymoon, first week in Caribbean, second week in or around Montana/Wyoming. We would like to hunt (elk, deer, etc) on the second week, and I was wondering if anyone had either been for their honeymoon or in general, and what advice you may have for the Montana/Wyoming...

I call myself a redneck all the time, so if she was trying to hurt my feelings - swing and a miss!

Seriously though, I really didn't think I was being that brutal up front, I thought her catty passive aggressive crap was much worse. I felt like I tried to stay on the positive and let OP know that what she is doing is GOOD and she should feel pride.

OP.... I am so sorry. Please feel free to message me re: hunting. This went off a very high cliff.

Pk, obviously your first example is right, that would be shitty. That's why hunters don't do that.

Yep PK, Kassy is right, we call those poachers. They are dicks and should face penalty to the fullest extent of the law. We don't even call them hunters.

Kassy - a lot of people don't know that. If you don't come from an area where hunting is available or popular, you're likely to have no idea what hunters do.

Exactly Purplekitten. I'm talking about the hunting for fun and not eating them, which is why I said I'm sure she's not going to take it home from her honeymoon.

Oh my god, Melissa. End this. You clearly are out of your element here. They won't take the meat home from their honeymoon?

Does anyone feel like sometimes you could sit in a quiet room, alone, 24 hours a day, listening to Cotton Eyed Joe on repeat, and it would STILL be less crazy than real life?

M, I'd be super interested in chatting more with you about hunting as well.

I've never been, and FH and I are interested.

(A friend of ours goes frequently and brings home elk and antelope steak for us, its amazing.) Mind if I connect with you? Smiley laugh

And that's true PK, which is why before you comment it at face value, you should do research on the matter. But, people don't. They read silly articles and call it a day, or just do no research period.

@M I know you've called yourself that before which is why I said it. I knew that wouldn't hurt your feelings. I also was not being passive aggressive at all. I love the Caribbean which is exactly why I said it will be a great time and I meant what I said about hunting.

M - correct me if i'm wrong (I feel like that lead in is entirely unnecessary, but anyway lol)

Melissa - for Texas hunts and I would think the same up north, you make the kill and the meat is taken to a processor. After the meat is processed it can be shipped to your home. It is irresponsible to hunt for kill only and not make use of the animal. I will advocate against that every time.

PK if people don't know that, they don't know anything about hunters and have no business judging them.

Melissa, you can absolutely transport home meat you hunt. My boss does it all the time. Stop making assumptions.

Your comment about hunting was ridiculous, ignorant, and catty, and if you try to argue otherwise to backpedal and save yourself here, it's not going to work. "I don't like killing innocent animals for fun" - where in god's name do you think the chicken nuggets you ate at your wedding came from? A chicken tree? The chicken field?

I'm really not in the mood to go further than I've gone here, but educate yourself before you speak, because it doesn't shed the greatest light on you.

    ^Emmy ... nice!!

Melissa - if you have reconsidered your position, then it probably wouldn't hurt to address the names that were thrown out there. You can't take things back, but you can help to make things right moving forward.

I can't even deal. You think you haven't said anything ignorant and catty?? I'm not backpedaling anything. I meant what I said. My idea of hunting is killing the animal and leaving it there. If you hunt and eat it, well congratulations.

There were no chicken nuggets served at my wedding. It's funny how you keep bringing that up from a conversation months ago that was talking about picky eaters. Lame.

Melissa, you pretty much accused OP of shooting an animal for fun. You don't know this person, if she's an avid hunter, or, well, anything. Your comment was completely out of place, regardless of your beliefs on the matter.
