Hydrangea Help

Emily , on July 21, 2016 at 9:26 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

I would really like to use Hydrangeas for both my bouquet and centerpieces next July. Does anyone have any information about price and florist recommendations?

Hi Emily. You can check the Vendor tab above to search for florists in your area. You can probably get a lot more info there than here on the forums.

Yes I love and will be using hydrangeas. These should be cheaper than most flowers especially in spring. But pricing really depends on your location. Just tell the florist you specifically want those hydrangeas and compare prices.

I'm not sure where you're from. But I'll be using Hydrangeas for my bouquet as well. I live in Southern California and will be driving down to the flower district in Los Angeles to buy some luscious one for $7 a bunch. I figured that maybe three should do it for me and add some baby's breath right in there. And for my BM I'll probably do a bunch and a half

Just remember that they are very susceptible to wilting in hot weather

Keep that in mind if you live somewhere hot orbit your while wedding is outside

We got some from Fifty Flowers, and they held up really well, for multiple days after they arrived. I couldn't believe it. It was very cool and humid where I was though.

My bridesmaid bouquets are going to be 3 stems a piece of hydrangeas with baby's breath under and throughought. I think we're only spending like 25 a piece per bouquet for them. . . That'll be October in Ohio if it makes a difference

I love hydrangea! If you're open to doing your own flowers, it's pretty easy, fun, and cost effective. I bought my own flowers from Whole Foods and Harris Teeter for my June Charleston wedding, and made all of my own bouquets, boutineers, and centerpieces. Everything cost me $275, including ribbon, pins, and floral tape.

I suggest having another flower and not just the hydrangea in your bouquet, just in case one stem wilts or something. The hydrangea was my centerpiece for each bouquet, and I had a mix of roses, anastasia spider flowers, ranunculus, and peony surrounding.

Refrigeration is key, and so is hydration. I made the bouquets the night before, and they looked great in the South Carolina heat. I even kept my bridal bouquet on the counter in a vase for the next several days Smiley smile. Great flower choice!!

Just make sure you keep them in water whenever you aren't using them for pictures or during the ceremony, especially if your wedding is outdoors.

My florist actually recommended I don't use them in my bouquets.

Yeah, I grow hydrangeas, they are finicky when out of the ground. Most centrepieces I've seen them in have involved water. They dry out quickly.

I am having hydrangeas, orchids and Cala Lilly's. I have 2 ring bearers, one MOH, one best man, and the parents. Very small wedding party.

Then I have pieces of hydrangeas floating in bowls in my center pieces. This is costing us around 450$

I LOVE hydrangeas and they were perfect for my July wedding last year, because they're in season so very affordable! Contact florists in your area for quotes - flower costs vary greatly based on location and on your "vision".

Hydrangeas are my favorite and basically the theme of my wedding haha. I am ordering them from Sams club and each centerpiece will have five blue and white hydrangeas. I will be sticking the hydrangeas in floral foam that's be soaked in water for the reception. My mom and I did a test run for my bridal shower and they turned out lovely. They were in water, not refrigerated, for 1 1/2 days before the shower and were beautiful. I will be having them in my bouquets that are being done by my florist. Three hydrangeas will be in each bouquet. Hope this helps!
