i always said i wouldn't stress but...

I always said I would never be the bride to stress over her wedding. So far, it hasn't been bad but today is exactly 5 weeks out and it seems so close!

We have yet to do a cake tasting, and the only place I've had success with actually being able to schedule a cake tasting is Wal-Mart. My mom is not wanting us to do a Wal-Mart cake, which wouldn't be my first choice either but we need something under $200 and my fiancé is wanting 3 tiers so that we can save the top tier for our first anniversary. I've reached out to a dozen or so bakeries in the area and have only heard back from a handful! The ones I did hear from are reasonably priced but have only about 4 options for tasting this month, none of which works for my fiancé Smiley sad

I'm trying to figure out my hairdo for the big day, and one of my friends offered to do my hair for free (I can't afford $200 for my hair, and I can't justify that) but I haven't been able to set a time to do a trial with her and she has horrible anxiety and I don't want to add to that by stressing her. If anyone has any ideas for someone in the Dallas/McKinney area in TX for someone for less than $130 TOTAL for just my hair, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Overall, I'm just starting to feel the pressure of everything and it's difficult to get my fiancé to help because he works 50+ hours per week and doesn't like talking to people (aka vendors). He's been helpful with some stuff but we are both just ready to be done and married so that the stress of it all is OFF!!

Sorry, I just had to rant a little bit. Thank you all for reading Smiley smile

    Hugs to you Courtney!
You are on the home stretch!
Just let it all go, it will all work out just fine!
If push comes to shove, go to the tasting with a friend or your Mom.

If your friend offered to do your hair, let her. Im sure she can handle it❤

Just one thing at a time, you can do this!
    Hang in there❤❤❤❤💐

    Oh no. You'll be fine.

I too am not big on Walmart cake. But Sam's Club has fantastic cakes and we plan to go thru them.

If your fiance isnt big on vendors, could you take someone else to your cake tasting?

It’s Sam’s the same thing basically as Wal-Mart?

he doesn’t like reaching out to them but the cake tasting is one of his few requests.

I actually just called Sam’s and the lady told me it was either white or chocolate cake, no fillings and that their cakes weren’t really customizable so I decided against them

I’m the day after you and I’m the same! I thought I was going to be super chill, but I just found out my stylist wants the final seating plan two days before RSVPs are due! Ack!!

We had our cake all sorted and then she bailed (actually made the third wedding vendor we “lost” don’t get me started on that one! lol) so we’re back to square one. Have you tried looking for an independent business? On local facebook groups etc? Maybe someone who works out of their home would be a little more flexible with tasting times? Either way you got this and it will work out. Maybe at you’re 25th wedding anniversary you’ll have a hilarious story about how you had to go to Walmart for your cake! or maybe you won’t even remember where it came from.

Oh no! That would cause me to scream hahaha.

We've tried people on facebook, my mom just got a message from an old church friend that her daughter makes cakes! I honestly at this point don't care where the cake is from as long as it tastes and looks good lol

A Walmart cake looks pretty nice though and honestly at the end of the day the cake is whatever's. People get such a small slice of it anyway and it's at the tail end so if everything else was good and the cake looks nice, it's ok to go with Walmart Smiley smile
I had a bakery cake and it didn't taste amazingggg which sucks but it was ok aha and I had so many other things there people didn't really care for the cake.
Like what PP said - take a breath. It's ok to take a breather and break whenever you need to compose yourself. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with wedding planning.

You can always try Tom Thumb! I love their cupcakes and cake! Plus I think you can kind of customize a wedding cake if I remember seeing that?
I wish I knew someone in the price range for hair (I live in Dallas) but my wedding is back home in California. I would say let your friend do it - I would just opt for an easy hairdo and just let it be to help minimize stress!

You got this girl!! In all honesty, I would focus your energy on your hair and less on cake tasting. I can't imagine a cake would come out tasting that awful, that a tasting might not be worth your time if you are stressed.

To reduce the cake cost, consider having fake tiers (the bakery will decorate cardboard or foam) and buying sheet cakes to serve. Your FH will still get the tiered and the top can be real to still save, but the price is reduced.

As for your hair, have you tried using Facebook, like the community swap and shops to advertise what you're looking for? This will help get a variety of pricing/availability at one time and save time. Then you can schedule a trial in the upcoming days to ensure you like what they are capable of.
