i am so frustrated with my makeup trial...

Oh man I like yours so much better. The left is waaay too glittery. I thought that was the trial until I read the end. I would do my own. If it wasn't what you wanted on your wedding it would be very disappointing. I feel you when you say you want to be pampered. It's one of those things you want done right. I would ditch her and do it myself. Maybe put that money towards a facial for pampering.

This just means she wasn’t the makeup artist for you. You don’t have to settle on her just because you had a trial with her. I had a trial with one lady that didn’t listen to me at all. I don’t wear dark eye shadow, and told her this and she did a very dark smoky eye and I hated it. I looked like a raccoon. But then I did a trial with another lady and she was amazing! Listened well, used shades that suit me, and during the trial anything I didn’t like she removed and played with shades until I was happy. Then wrote it all down so we get it perfect on the big day.

I am very good at makeup and could definitely do my own day of, but I just want to be pampered that day! So I say you just have to decide what you want on that day and if you don’t want the hassle of doing your own makeup find another artist, I went by referrals of girls I had known who had been married recently and it worked out very well. I know trials can be expensive so try to do them for other important events so that it doesn’t feel like wasted money good luck!

It was money well spent to find out she is not the right one for you. I understand wanting to be pampered but seriously you do such a good job on your own.

The problem is I live in Alaska and there are very few MUA's who will come to your location and I reeeeeally didn't want to have to go to a salon to get my makeup done. lots of wasted time driving... So I could get a trial done elsewhere, there are several salons that do. but they wont come to me on my wedding day.

Well, that’s what the trial is for, to work out the makeup. Did you try different things during the trial? Frankly, if you don’t like her work, then consider it money well spent since it’s better to have done the trial and decided you didn’t like it, rather than not spent the money and been upset on your wedding day.

For others who haven’t done a trial yet, when you do it, you should be working out the kinks at that time. When I did mine, the MUA showed me everything each step of the way and changed things and colors until we came to an agreement. She also showed me my face in all types of lighting during the trial so I could get a good idea of what it would look like outdoors, indoors and with the flash of a camera.

No, I just showed her the picture and said this is what I want and when she showed me I was so ashamed I just left (which sucked cos I had errands to run but didn't want to go out like that)

All the pictures she showed me were brides with darker skin than me which isn't hard to do. im really pale so the makeup she did do might have looked better on someone else but not me..

Like PP if I were you I would do it myself and put the money saved towards a facial or massage.

I would try reaching out and express how you feel. Maybe ask to do one more trial to see if she can achieve the look like you did? If she still can’t nail it then go to plan B

I don't want her to charge me $80 to do it again and bringing up money makes me uncomfortable and I'd hate to sink $160 on this and STILL not go with her. Or pay $160 for trials and STILL have to pay her $275 to do my hair and makeup day of....

I'd do my own makeup (I'm planning on doing my own as well) and maybe look forward to getting pampered elsewhere like getting your hair or nails done? Maybe use that money towards a facial or something?

There's a tutorial on how to do your hair the way I want mine that's literally every step.... thinking about doing my own hair too or having a friend do it cos I cant see the back of my head.... its also not that complicated.

I hadn't considered using the money on a facial or something similar but I'll have to start shopping around!! Just hope whatever I do doesn't make my face freak out. Only have 40 more days!

Your version definitely came out way better!! I wish I could do that! I get the wanting to not worry about doing it yourself though... but at least you know you will be 100% comfortable! And it can still be fun getting ready, especially if your BM (if you are having any) are there with you!!

Anyways, I told her I'm going for a very specific look and would love to try and achieve this look. So I have another trial setup for a few weeks from now. If she isn't able to do it the way I want, I'm planning on looking for another artist. I really don't want to be out all that money nor do I want to start the search again but I know how I want to look on my wedding so I think it's okay to be picky!!

I like ypurs much better .. im pale with dark. Hair too .. and the reason i wont have somebody do my make up .. is because they arent used to my milkyness and dont get colors or shades correct on me as i have had make uo dont before and hated it
