i can’t decide what restaurant to pick.

I’m getting married in a few months and it’s small with just 45 people. We are getting married at a church and there will be no dancing so it’s just dinner and dessert and maybe a cocktail hour. I narrowed it down to two restaurants. Both are downtown and cost about the same. One has a nice small courtyard area attached to the room indoor. It’s roomy and there will be plenty of sunlight and a small indoor area if it rains (Colorado wedding in end of May). The other restaurant has more delicious food. The inside is nice but dark and it will be one room with no windows. It’s nice too but my problem is I can’t decide what is more important to me: a roomy space with lots of sunlight and a patio or delicious food. I need more POV please.

I agree with Samantha and would go with better food. If the food at the place with the patio is just "meh" your guests will remember that more than the environment.

If the food isn’t bad at the place with the patio, I’d go with that. I also work in a room without windows though so…

In regards to the 2nd option, you can certainly personalize and brighten up a windowless room using decor and lighting. Opt for white or lighter table clothes which will highlight your centerpieces, add strategic candlelight (real or battery-operated), even bring in diy colored uplighting for texture and drama. Maybe one wall could be used for a slideshow of pics of you and your spouse. To add flow, you can configure the tables in an interesting pattern for your intimate party of 45. There are many ways to make your reception venue your own without compromising your vision. Btw, many hotel ballrooms/ conference rooms and romantic restaurants are windowless. Best wishes!

Our restaurant will be kind of dim and dark as well but I think you could definitely spice up the space and take advantage of the delicious food!

Consider adding white linens to the table (maybe ask the restaurant if they can provide some or have a vendor they recommend that you rent from) and some small bud vases and taper candles!

I would go with whatever space you like best. You'll have the photos to look back on forever, and as long as the food isn't terrible there, it won't make too much of a difference!

I would rather my guests remember the overall ambience and experience of the reception than what the food tasted like.

Thanks for the advice ladies! @samantha That place looks gorgeous. I defiantly lean towards the place with better food. I just feel bad wasting a beautiful spring day wedding indoors. I appreciate your input
