I can relate. We were planning for November 7th 2020 at first. FH wanted a fall wedding and I wanted our date to be the day we started dating which was 02/06/17. But November 6th was a Friday. Then we got to talking about it and pushed it back so we could save more. We are getting married 03/20/21 which is my birthday.

I was picky about the date and not the venue at first! (My fiancé's mom and late dad's anniversary). We got the first venue with that date available - which was a huge mistake of ours LOL.

When we decided to move venues, we fell in love with the new venue but weren't able to keep the date. So we had to move the date to the day before (Friday instead of Saturday). We're more than happy with this!!

My advice would be to decide on the season you want to be married in, if you don't have a certain date you're dead set on of course, and find your favorite venue available during that time!

We're super flexible on our date! Personally I want to fall in love with the venue and go with a date they have available.

We were set on the month (March) but didn’t have a specific date in mind per se. Initially we wanted to do 3/20 to have more time with planning and for the weather to warm up. But our venue was already booked. So we had to change to 3/6 and - while I was initially a bit worried about less planning time - it was the best decision. We had the most gorgeous day weather-wise.

I also might to Mexico, if that’s the case I’ll do Winter. If I stay in South or North Carolina I’ll do summer . 🤷🏽‍♀️
I have to set the season and lock it in . LOL

Ah I'm in South Carolina! We were set on late summer either way, because it's so beautiful here during those months! And I would agree, destination would be perfect in the winter - get you away from the cold for a little while and Mexico would be stunning!!

Oh yea for sure. We went with an all inclusive package offered through a sister company of the people that own our venue so it didn't matter for that. But when I was searching there were like thousand dollar differences in some cases. It's crazy. Oh yea my FH keeps saying that it will be easier for him to remember and less likely he'll forget. It wasn't planned but he suggested it and we just rolled with it.

We picked the venue, then picked the date from what they had available. We knew we wanted summer because of kids, so in the span we gave them, they had three dates, 2 of which were significant birthdays of family members, so we picked the third one.

We were picky about a season (we really wanted Winter) and about the convenience of the date more than a specific date. Luckily we planned for a long engagement 2+ years from when we booked our venue so we had basically any date we wanted, so we narrowed it down to either MLK weekend or President’s Day weekend and just asked the advice of others as to which they thought was better! We wound up going with President’s Day weekend just because we didn’t want to hit people with a wedding RIGHT after the holidays when we had the option to have it in February just as easily!

Weather is a good reason to change a date, so is the price! Off-season for a venue can save you a bundle... just don’t choose that season if it means heat stroke or hurricanes for your guests. 😝
