i Dislike Bridal Shows.

Mandi, on September 19, 2019 at 4:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
So, I'm apparently awful at wedding planning. But there was a bridal show at my venue last night. I jumped at the chance to see it again. With people in it.
I went. And dang, I'm awkward. Maybe it's just because I pretty much have my vendors picked out.
I did find a rental place I wanted to talk to. Just a few odds and ends, but their hours are horrible. So i made an appointment.

This is the second time I've told a rental place I have no intention of renting table linens. Everytime I say that, they always look like I've smacked them.

I guess I just don't think we HAVE to spend money to cover these perfectly fine tables. 🙄

I've never been to a wedding without linens, so I could see why they were surprised but I also don't think they need to act THAT surprised for sure haha you could also be buying them or renting them from someone else.

Yeah there's nothing wrong with those tables. I think linens elevate the look for elegance but, honestly, sitting at a table with linens (especially long ones) is really a pain in the butt.

LOL!! Mandi you are so funny!! Your posts almost always crack me up! But I never read your posts and think, "dang, she's awful at wedding planning!" LOL You just have your own ideas about stuff. Who cares if those ideas don't match up with people's expectations? The only expectations/opinions that matter here are yours and FHs. Everyone else can take a step back.

The rental place was probably just green with envy, thinking you are getting your linens from somewhere else. But I think those tables are really pretty on their own. If you're not doing a fancy, formal reception, I wouldn't waste the money.

The first couple of bridal shows I went to, I found them to be interesting, as I hadn't yet booked any vendors except for our venue. But then over the next several months, I ended up attending a couple more, and was bored! I think it was because by then, I had already done a ton of research, and talked to a ton of vendors, and booked all the big ones on my own. So, at the bridal show, there wasn't much to do. I was excited about possibly winning the raffle grand prize, or one of the smaller prizes, but didn't.

I will say that FH went with me to the last one, and it turned out better than the others. We would have been more bored, except that Ketel One had a booth (first time I saw them at a show), and they were giving out LOTS of samples (shots of fruit-infused vodka). Let's just say that it's a good thing FH and I had taken public transportation that day, or we might have been stuck in SF for the night!! We spent quite a bit of time testing the samples at the Ketel One booth. LOL we were bored!! So, we had some drinks. Then took the train home, giggling like lunatics!
