I don't know what to do for my honeymoon!

Sidnye, on January 16, 2015 at 4:32 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 34

I am getting married in June and my Fiancé is letting me pick the place to go but I have no idea what to do! We were thinking a cruise but that is just WAY out of our budget. He will be 20 and I will be 19... Any ideas??

How about a drive up (or down) the west coast of the US, or a resort trip to DR, or rent a cottage by a lake? Or you can go old fashion route and just stay at home for a moon cycle while drinking mead.

We are renting a cabin. Small, low key, semi destination, relaxing. All things I wanted Smiley smile you dont have to go big and grand for it to be a honey moon!

    Wedding Twin!!

Key West? Although airfare into KW can be upwards of $700/ea, I would recommend flying into Fort Myers (airfare usually around $250-300) and taking the Key West Express down. Its a 4 hour ferry through the Gulf ($150/ticket) with a full bar, airline style seats, booths, benches and tables (even a small grill).

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (Tennessee) are also beautiful places to visit...the weather would be great in June!

Key West is great ! If you want to do Florida St Petersburg, Naples, is beautiful too...Try to narrow what activities you'd like to beach, woods, hike, etc and then find a place that has those things.

    What's your budget?

We are going to Colorado and doing a white water rafting, zip lining, massage day, adventure park, and tons of other stuff!

Not real expensive either Smiley smile

We are doing Vegas, just decided the other day. You could think about Branson since its near OK, but that time of year it is a zoo down there. St. Louis (where I live) is another option, lots of things like museums and the zoo are free to visit! Take in a Cardinals game too! I would go low key and check trip advisor if your going to stay somewhere for more than a few days. Sometimes renting a house is cheaper than a hotel.

Were going to laughlin NV. CHEAper than Vegas, and they have "laughlin junkets" for under $300 pp for hotel and room.

My fiance and I are going to Puerto Rico for four days in June. The plane tickets and hotel for both of us = $1000 total.

Epic road trip! It would be hard to fly anywhere in the U.S. because you can't rent a car at your age. But, what about a road trip to Florida, California, or Yellowstone?

Hi date twin! We are going to stay in a fancy hotel for a few nights as a mini-moon, and plan a real honeymoon later Smiley smile

Where are you located? There are great road trip destinations pretty much all over the country.

We're spending a few days at my family's cottage on a lake in Northern MI. So all we need to pay for is gas to get there, food (and beer!), and gas for the boats Smiley smile

I love the idea of a road trip, but keep in mind that you will need to use your own car, since you cannot rent a car in the U.S. at your age.

Also, for the people suggesting Vegas- I don't think you'd have a great time since a lot of the stuff to do there involves gambling, and (again) you will not be old enough to do that.

If you want to be able to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine with your new hubby, then maybe you can try to go somewhere low cost but out of the country. Try using flights.google.com or skyscanner.com to find cheap flights to places like Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Both of them let you enter the date and starting point but no destination to compare prices of flying to many different places.

Or maybe just a mini-moon near where you live to have some alone time?

Damn. Just read that you were 19 and 20. Key West may not be the greatest place. Try Destin? South Padre? Gulf Shores (Alabama. Beautiful), Coloroda, Oregon

Also, one way that we are cutting costs is we got a credit card that earns Aeroplan Miles, everything for the wedding is going on the card and we pay it off instantly with saved up cash but get the miles - free plane ticket!

Whitewater rafting is fun! Take a road trip to Colorado or Utah and there is some good rafting!

Here's a link, although I don't know this company in particular:

O.A.R.S. is a large company and well-regarded, check out their website too:

Puerto Rico was very nice. We chose it because we wanted to leave the country but I didn't have a passport. Also the drinking age in PR is 18 as far as I know. There's always deals online for cheap flights there. Good luck!

Cruises really aren't expensive...you can cruise for about $400/ea. But since you aren't old enough to drink, you might not really enjoy your cruise anyway. You aren't going to be able to rent a hotel room for a week for any less than that. Where are you located? Are you within driving distance of a beach? Maybe you could go for a long weekend?

We are doing a 4 day cruise and honestly, it is a lot cheaper than we thought it would be. I would just find a little bed and breakfast in a town that you can do some activities in.
