i don’t know what to do!

Jill, on June 23, 2020 at 3:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
My fiancé and I have had to reschedule our wedding twice now due to Covid. So now we have had our hearts set on a beach wedding in Florida and now it’s a hot spot. We just don’t know what to do. Do we wait or out? We have no interest in getting married where we are from in Michigan and have always wanted the tropical beach wedding. I had to take my wedding dress and keep it somewhere else so I didn’t have to see it because it makes me so sad. I don’t know when I’ll be able to wear it.

Would you be open to a beach wedding in another state? Just a thought. I live in Florida and it’s like every man for himself here right now.

I agree with Pp - there’s plenty of other states with beaches ! Or maybe you can have a lake side wedding ? It’s not tropical or beach but still by a large body of water

We started this conversation the other day about other states. It’s so frustrating to get so close and then have to cancel again. Thank you ladies!

The safest alternative is eloping. I’m having a small wedding with 20 people

California and Hawaii are also big beach locations if you dont mind going that route. It also depends on how many people you're trying to have and who is willing to travel. If it's small, you can look into Simply Eloped. They offer beach locations for up to 20 people. Some locations may even be a little bit more.

Have you thought about a destination wedding in the Caribbeans? Like Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica.

I would look into domestic beaches that are lesser known. They'll be less likely to be flooded with tourists to hike up the virus counts. I don't know of many beaches other than in SC where I grew up, but you could consider Hilton Head Island or Kiawah Island. Both are less crowded, but absolutely beautiful. Both also have resorts that do wedding packages.

Hi Jill! With how quickly local situations and restrictions seem to change right now, I think staying local is the safest strategy!

The two of you could try to elope in the Caribbean, but there's always a risk that travel advisories could change. Also while they aren't tropical - Presque Isle, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, and Silver Lake Sand Dunes are all beautiful places to elope in Michigan!

I was planning on honeymoon in Hawaii and now changing that since my fiancé doesn't feel comfortable flying now. I hope that means we can go next year.

perhaps you can consider a destination wedding that is smaller so you can have your dream.

I’m in FL and many people I see are wearing masks, not all. If you can avoid bars and restaurants and crowded beaches you’d probably be ok to do a wedding here. But to be safe it should probably be small and at a very private beach. Honestly it’s not really worth the risk if you and guests never got Covid 19 and have no antibodies. Plenty of beaches elsewhere in tropical weather. Be safe.❤️
