i don't like my dress

Dress Just whining. The more I see it, the less I like it as a wedding dress. I had never gotten an "ah-ha" moment with it. Even with the crinoline skirt I kind of just... don't want to wear it on the day. It was my back up in case I didn't find anything I really loved. Which, I haven't found...

Just whining. The more I see it, the less I like it as a wedding dress. I had never gotten an "ah-ha" moment with it. Even with the crinoline skirt I kind of just... don't want to wear it on the day. It was my back up in case I didn't find anything I really loved. Which, I haven't found anything I really love in my price range. I've altered the waist, ripped it, hemmed it, stuffed myself into spanks for it, and I just don't love it. There's 2 weeks left until my wedding. Smiley cry

I don't know if it's that it doesn't feel bridal or I don't feel pretty or both. I'll definitely go with the belt option first. See if that helps a bit.

I think you look beautiful! My advice would be to focus on the whole look: maybe try a belt with sparkle, color or texture (lace or otherwise)--whatever you feel is missing; try a different bolero, maybe something sheer or lacy or slightly more cropped to hit closer to the waistline of the dress, or create one by tying a scarf around your shoulders and back (if you can alter your own dress, you have the skills!); add a fun hair accessory; try it on with your shoes. The dress is just one part of the overall look and yours is a great canvas for adding onto with small elements that will have big impact!

Also, for my non-traditional dress's belt, I bought a meter or so of vintage French beaded trim from a haberdasher and sewed it to a strip of fabric that matches my dress with hook and eye closures in the back.

I think accesories could really change the look of the dress. I think adding a wedding belt to make it more of an empire waist could make a huge difference. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/ForeverBird-Rhinestone-Wedding-Crystal-Off-White/dp/B07KWWQ26H/ref=asc_df_B07TS2GVHD/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=366323683324&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15470325467395043439&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018327&hvtargid=pla-812135547968&psc=1&ref=&adgrpid=76464294415&th=1

If you still arent happy, id look at other options even if they areny conventional wedding dresses. I do a lot of sewing, and a bolero could be made in a day or two. You can also look at a nice wrap. I got mine off of Amazon for $10. With shoes, makeup and hair, you might see things differently.

You’re beautiful! Maybe a tulle shawl would be more bridal than a sweater?

Just saw this on Torrid. Your dress is very similar to hers in style. It's such a beautiful dress on you. If you could attach some fabric to the top to create sleeves and a back?

Yes! I love that one from Torrid. The one I'm wearing is actually from Torrid. I may be able to create something like that. I'm going to just have to get some fabric and start messing around with ideas. I think I may also add some bead work to the top.

For sure, I need a different top thingy. I really like the look of the higher tied scarves that are poofy around the shoulders like in the 1950s but I can't find anything similar to that.

Thank you! That's what my mom suggested is a tulle shawl.

Yes very similar to yours. It's an empire waist dress, and with your figure is very flattering. I think you just need something to help define the waistline.

Your best bet is probably going to be buying one off the rack at a dress shop. It may seem kinda odd but its a great option! You are right, that doesn't seem like a wedding dress at least for a ceremony. It may be a good changing one for the reception (:

Ok here it is without the sweater. Realized that I was going to have my hair down which will cover my back/ tats and my veil is going to cover the part of my arms I dislike so I was over thinking things a lot. I fee much better now but I’m still going to buy a belt to define the waist a little better. Also realized I can’t have the crinoline peeking out because I have such a large behind it pulls it up too much in the back but the back looks lovely so that’s OK!

SO MUCH BETTER WITHOUT THE SWEATER!!!!!! I think it's much nicer the way it is. I'm not sure a belt will work -- it has a nice A-line shape the way it is! Smiley winking

Love love LOVE! You look happy and beautiful in these pictures. Bummer about the crinoline, it looks so good peeking out. It adds a little oomph to it. Can't wait to see it with the belt!

Yeah I may get a colored one IDK. I've got the red shoes it's just my wedding party is already highly mismatched. And FH informed me yesterday he's wearing a blue shirt instead of the white one we agreed on under his suit. I told him fall colors and light pinks. Blue isn't anywhere else but whatever. It's his wedding day too lol
