I don't want to be a chubby panda bride!

Abigaile, on September 9, 2014 at 9:17 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14

For the last three months I have been trying to track my weight, problem is it doesn't seem to budge. i weigh the same as i did in high school,(about 200 lbs) i just got fatter. now i have really been trying to exercise and watch what i eat but it doesn't show any affect on my scale! the only up side is some how i'm still dropping pant sizes. went from a 16 to a 13 in 3 months, but the belly fat remains right along side the thunder thighs. if anyone knows any exercises that could help those areas specifically, that would be fantastic. i have 11 months before the wedding but want to get started asap!

Okay - for one, don't be so hard on yourself. I would kill to go from a 16 to a 13 pants size. I for one, totally suck, but I'm okay with that. I'm going to be the most beautiful 200 lb bride anyone has ever seen. Then I'm going to lose weight so I get healthy after all the stress is off my shoulders. #2 is = keep on keeping on. Keep doing what you're doing, but also check with your doctor to make sure you don't have any metabolism issues. You're going to be gorgeous, no matter what.

I'm with you. I'm at 224 and definitely want to slim down for my trumpet gown. I have a fitness challenge group going if you might be interested in joining or getting more info. We do at-home DVDS which come with a nutrition plan so it could definitely be helpful. If you need help, feel free to contact me through my website and maybe we can get a few of us brides in this challenge group. Www.Beachbodycoach.com/DominiqueRogers Regardless of what you do, definitely try to get a support system going and/or success partner. It can definitely help

Your dropping pant sizes but not weight because exercise makes you gain muscle, which actually weighs more than fat. I would ignore the scale all together. Track your weight loss by measuring inches lost and just generally how you feel instead. Looking at the scale is just going to make you more unmotivated!

Dominique - I would be totally into that. I've been looking for a kick in the pants. It's a little late for me to drop a bunch of weight before the wedding. I've come to grips with that, but I would love to find a "support group" for working out. I used to be quite an athlete. It sucks to be out of breath walking up a set of stairs.

I have said this before. Don't focus on losing weight just for your wedding day. It you crash diet just to lose weight you will likely gain it all back plus some; and that is very unhealthy. Instead focus on being healthier overall and developing long term healthy habits. It sounds like you are already doing that by eating healthier and exercising.

Also throw away your scale or at least don't focus on it. As you have said you have dropped a few pant sizes without losing any pounds. Muscle weights more than fat. So as you exercise a build muscle mass you can gain pounds and still lose inches. Also good to know is when at rest muscle burns more calories than fat; so as you build that muscle you will be burning more calories throughout the day.

Perhaps you can set a measurable goal on your fitness level. Like being a able to lift a certain weight X number of reps, or run a certain distance in a specific time.

I lost zero weight for my wedding and I'm about the same weight as you. Looking at my pictures I think I look beautiful - I have my hair & make up done, a beautiful dress and shoes...I don't regret a thing!

I've been working out with a personal trainer since May. I've only lost 3 pounds and my pants are basically as tight as before, *but* I've lost 8% body fat. I'm now toned and have muscle where I had little to none before. I might have to turn on my laptop so I can share my progress pic. My stomach will be the last thing to golo. The biggest fatty area is the one that will be last. But I feel SO much better about my body now!!

Here are my progress pics from March, when I bought my dress, to last week. (I've only weighed myself three times since I started working out in May.)

Ditto what KarenM and KirstenMichelle said!

Start walking. Everyday. Walk for at least 30 minutes, but better if you can get close to an hour.

That will help your thighs and you'd be surprised how much it will help your tummy, too. Also, drink tons of cold water.

A few ab exercises that I do. 30 second plank, 30 second for each side plank, scissors, 25-30 V- up, 30 seconds of Russian twists, and 30 of this: sit on your tailbone with you legs lifted just a little off the floor, cross your arms and just twist back and forth just slightly.

Keep doing what you are doing, sounds like you are burning fat and gaining muscle which is perfect, more muscle burns more fat! As for tips, try the rowing machine. Its an all over body workout and works my body harder than anything else at the gym. I find it really gets fast results, make sure you use the correct technique though. Watch youtube or get someone to show you. Smiley smile

You look great! Keep it up. A way I found to loose weight is to cut out simple carbs, sugar and eat very clean, lot of lean protein and veggies and don't diet, make healthy living lifestyle change. Make sure you are eating enough, but also watch your calorie intake and portion control! Keep it up!
