I Don't Want to Wedding Dress Shop! :(

My wedding is in 311 days, and I have not gone wedding dress shopping yet! My mother keeps pestering me about going ASAP, but I just can't bring myself to want to begin the dress hunt. I've been overweight my entire life, and getting engaged back in April finally gave me the motivation I needed to get healthy, although I am still a very long way from where I would like to be. Although I hate how thick my legs are, how big my booty is, and how big my tummy is.... my arms are the real killer. I hate my arms so much and I just feel like I'll hate every single dress I try on because of them (and no... I don't want a gown with sleeves or a shawl). I told my mom that when she hassles me about dress shopping, but she doesn't get it. What can I do to get excited and feel confident for dress shopping? (And are there any solid work out tips for toning arms at home using free weights and a medicine ball?) Thanks WW Community! Smiley smile

I feel it girl. I am dreading it too. I got a gym membership but haven’t been going consistently. Having gained 100lbs over the last 7 years has been crazy devestating and my biggest fear is going to a store and realizing nothing will fit me. What I plan to do when I start looking it call stores first to inquire about their plus sizes carried to make sure I go to one with good options!

I shop first, work out later. Gives me extra motivation!

You have more than enough time to find your dress. If your wedding is in october, you can get a dress by May or June, even July.

I chose my dress in November. Its not getting here until May. I need to lose 50 lbs. So my goal is to have those pounds shed off by May if not by June.

Just keep in mind some of the dresses that aren't made for your body shape won't be all that flattering, but when you find a dress you fall in love with it will accentuate all the right parts of yourself.

You are still quite a ways out from your wedding. Maybe try to start a few healthy changes like drinking more water, cutting sugars, and looking online to get an idea of what you like, and then start thinking about dress shopping. Tell your mom that your not ready yet, and its still fairly early. You do have time.

    Positive vibes OP!

I feel the same way. I agree with the others that once your start trying on dresses, you'll feel great about it. So, just jump into it! You'll feel like a princess!

For arms, my biggest suggestion is to put on some gloves and hit the punching bag. I used to take a kickboxing class and I was in the best shape of my life and it gave me confidence. I also use 15 lb weights and do various numbers of exercises and get those push ups in too! Consistency is key when it comes to arms

I was the same way. I went dress shopping and ended up enjoying it, even though I felt overweight while shopping. I definitely put it off in fear of hating every dress on my fat body, but surprisingly, I was so distracted by the joy of wearing a dress I might wear down the aisle as I marry my soulmate, the other concerns melted away.

You can always get it taken in after you choose it, but definitely don't deny yourself the excitement of dress shopping just because you're not happy with your current weight/physical fitness!

I am using "XHIT" and "Rebecca Louise fitness" on YouTube to get into shape. They have 5 minute, 7 minute, 10 minute, various increment workouts depending on how you're feeling that day. They are excellent motivators and if you force yourself to press play and keep trying until the video is over, you see results fast. I did it every day for a week and already saw visible results in the mirror and am one hole smaller on my belt!

I was just telling my fh the same thing !! I wear and 8 and am very body concious ive had 3 sections and have a permanant gut . I have a 1 year old and still have 20 lbs to lose to get me to my pre pregnancy size 4 ... my issue may seem stupid to somebody who's a size 18 but it's makes me very self conscious and upset . The bridal shops told me I need to order before Feb.. so I go next month so buy a dress .. and it's scary but what I do want to say .. you can get some weight off in the 6 months it takes before alterations so think of it that way you still have some time
