I feel like I'm losing my mind...

Married, on December 20, 2012 at 4:48 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

So...before I graduated I felt like I was super on track for the wedding, even a little ahead of the game. Then...FH and I bought a house and tore everything out of it to begin renovations, I'm looking for a job, and we just adopted a 90 lb. english bulldog. I haven't touched anything wedding related let alone thought about it, and I don't think I'll be able to until after the 1st of the year. I've double checked my spreadsheets and stuff and I believe I'm still on track, it just feels scary and I feel like there are a million things going on at one time. Anyone else feel like this around the holidays?

I stopped wedding planning for the holidays. I'll pick it up again after the 1st of the year. Relax, you're fine. Do you have all the basics in place? (venue, officiant, ceremony site, etc)?

Then cut yourself some slack and give it some time. After the 1st of the year, you can kick yourself in the ass. In the meantime, enjoy the holiday and your new home, and FH.

I think as long as all your major stuff is done you are fine. i think it is normal for everyone to start feeling a bit crazy around this time of the year. especially this year seems especially stressful for many people!

That's a normal reaction. You were super swamped, and now you have a little room to breathe because you graduated. There's absolutely nothing wedding related that you won't be able to accomplish in 4 months after the holidays. It's my go-to phrase of the week, but it's really just a ceremony and a party, not cure for cancer :-)

YES. I was just thinking about how overwhelmed I’ve been feeling lately. I keep on thinking to myself… how am I going to handle another quarter of graduate school, a job that I’ve been working full time plus hours for, and planning a wedding & honeymoon by September! It’s been really stressing me out. I think when the Holidays are over I’ll feel better. I think that’s another added stressor that I’m worried about.

I think everything will work out fine for you! You’ll make it work! You’re already ahead of the game! Give yourself a break for the holidays and pick up with wedding stuff after the 1st. It’s completely normal that you are feeling overwhelmed BUT you already have the majority of the wedding stuff figured out so your good : )
