i Feel So Behind on The Save The Dates

6 months is a good time frame to target for sending your Save the Dates. You are 7 months out so you still have time before they would even be considered late. Breathe deep. You got this!



If you think your photographer will get your engagement photos back quickly then maybe wait to send them. If you think you will be too stressed waiting on the photos and then rushing to mail the STD on time then start now without the engagement photos. It is really whatever works best for you!

I don't think it's too late to send out Save the Dates for a December wedding! They are usually sent out 6-8 months in advance, so you've still got some time. How quick of a turnaround time does your photographer have on the engagement photos? If it's a couple weeks, you could totally wait until you receive them before ordering the Save The Dates. Otherwise, if you don't want to wait for the photos to come back, you could always send them out either using a non-professional photo, or without a photo on them at all.

If it helps at all, I forgot completely and didn't send mine out until 4 months ahead of my wedding. No one even noticed.

View Quoted Comment Haha! No, that was worded poorly on my part. What I meant to say was that no one noticed they were late! Our friends and family loved the Save the Dates. A lot of them imediately booked their accommodation, got the time off from work, and sent us gifts off our registry. Some of them even RSVP'd early on our website before they got the formal invite. The Save the Dates were well worth sending, even though they were late!

Our wedding is about 2 months ahead or yours, and I think about 2 months ago was when we sent our save the dates, so you're totally fine! You could even design them now and then just leave a placeholder for a picture so once you get the pictures back they'll be ready to go. Like Grace said, I don't think anyone gets in a twist about not getting a save the date by a certain time, so no need to worry

You have plenty of time because 6 months before your date is June 22. No need to stress.

Also, there is a big misconception that phone calls/text/email instead of a postcard is not valid as a proper save the date. However phone save the dates done 6+ months before the wedding have been very effective for generations with zero issues and doesn’t cost anything.

Definitely don’t feel bad you are still on time! My wedding is October 2 so about 4 1/2 months away & I just sent out some save the dates last week 🙃 I mean I started sending them out in March but had to order a second batch because I didn’t order enough. It was fine though no one said anything lol & they already knew our date so they could at least start making plans. You have time ☺️

Save the dates are optional, only. Only your VIP's need to know ahead of time, and a text will do, or a phone call. No need to stress!

No, if you waited this long just wait for your pictures since it’s coming up soon. Invites are sent a month before the wedding so I think you are still in line for sending Save the dates this month and the invites in October.
