i found out that i did not mention my spouse previous marriage in the certificate

Jim, on September 19, 2019 at 2:15 PM Posted in Married Life 0 4

Hi everybody!

As above, I misunderstood that this is not his first marriage because I thought the paper asked if he ever marriage in the US. He did officially divorce in his home country before married me here. So, I stated him as single on the paper. Now I wonder if I can request the courthouse to fix this error from "single" to "divorce" with proper end date? I am freaking out right now after we checked the certificate today and we accidentally misfilled information. Please help! We have been married for 2 years and have a lovely son.

I know in my state it takes a court order to change that. What is the reason that you are looking to have it changed now if the information was accepted?

I did submit a petition for him to get a green card. It's form I-130. But I think I need to get this fix before everything gone too far now.

It sounds like you should be consulting an immigration lawyer. I don't think these forums will be much help when what you really need is legal advice.
