I hate fondant and buttercream icing.

We decided on strawberry shortcake

I love, love, love strawberry shortcake! Might be my all time favorite dessert.

Do you hate the taste or the look? I wont eat frosting but everyone else does so I just scrape it off the piece I am taking.

Strawberry shortcake is an excellent choice!

The cream cheese frosting is yummy. I love whipped cream frosting, and in fact, it's my favorite. I would like to do whipped cream but I thought it can't be left out for a long period of time. How is everyone that is doing whipped cream doing their cake? Are you cutting it immediately at the reception?

@Lirana, why do you think there is a difference between the buttercream you are used to and American buttercream?

@Pan, most grocery stores used lard in their "buttercream". It is not really buttercream. I detest grocery store cakes, for that reason. I only buy cake from a couple of local bakeries.

Have you picked a baker yet? I find store buttercream sickeningly sweet, but buttercream from bakeries to be less sweet and much better. I'm sure if you talked to your baker, he/she could give you some samples of other types to try. I'm with you though, I usually hate frosting of any kind, but our baker was awesome and made wonderful buttercreams that I think I could eat by the tub.
