i Hate My Bustle

I just went to a dress fitting and this is what my bustle looks like. Girls with a short train, please show me what your tailor did because these buttons are not okay. They said the only thing they could do is change the buttons to strings.

I think all my lace helps it blend. Did your seamstress say why they placed yours where they did? Was it a length issue or preference?

Oo love the detailing! Can they move the buttons up higher and maybe only do one bustle? Have you looked up images of your dress to see if there's any pictures with it bustled?

Is the fabric super heavy? My seamstress did one hook and one eye for mine and I feel like that would be less visible on your dress if it would be enough to hold it.

Yeah there were girls at the shop with the same bustle but the buttons blended in because of their lace. It was a length thing...just trying to mak it the same as the front and there is only so much fabric

Thank you! Couldn't find any bustle images of my dress but I was wondering about the single point too! I think it would look more purposeful then

It is slightly heavier than I feel like a lot of wedding fabrics are but that's what I was expecting too...on hook hidden in the seam. Worth asking about - thank you!

Yeah not liking that either! I'm not doing a bustle because my dress isnt too long and want that fairytale feel anyways. I hate the way bustles look

I actually don't think it looks bad aha and people really won't notice it as much as ya think since your dress is very sleek.

I would definitely see if they could do something else. That looks like a total rush job and takes away from the gorgeous dress. Those buttons are definitely noticeable and I don’t really care for the tiny bustle either. If they can do better than that, find another tailor. Good luck!

My train is similar. I actually had buttons put in to replace the zipper. When we discussed the bustle the seamstress was going to do a single gather of the train that will connect to the bottom button. I havent seen my bustle complete yet (final fitting is today).

You already have buttons.. is that possible with your dress?

I have zero issue chopping it right off if I hate the bustle 😂.

Actually, mine is cathedral length and the train is one of the main reasons why I love the dress so chopping it off is definitely not an option for me LOL

I hear ya. Mine is a-line and my favorite part is the top, front. I'm only entertaining the train staying for drama.

They could probably do something like this. The fabric looks very similar.

This is what I was going to suggest. They could put a hook or button right at the bottom of your zipper and do a single point bustle. Definitely worth checking out. Good luck!

This dress is very similar to yours (the skirt looks like a crepe fabric) and the french bustle looks really nice! Did you have any luck with your seamstress?
