I hate my engagement pics

Brittany, on May 23, 2011 at 10:57 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 13

What I pictured did not transpire into reality. It's a combination of I hate how I look in them and what I pictured is not what I got. It's not the photographer's fault, though. I have been working really hard to lose weight and it sucks when you think you've made huge progress only to see pictures of yourself and realize you still have a long ways to go.

Anybody else struggling with weight loss and self esteem... especially with the coming of the most photographed day of your life! Advice for a girl feeling down would be appreciated!

Instead of feeling hate towards yourself and the photos, use them as motivation to get you moving. Sitting there hating them isn't going to help anything. My motivation was a photo taken with my girlfriends when I told them I was engaged. It was plastered all over Facebook and I was mortified. I still can't believe I let myself get so fat. Well now I'm down 10 pounds and 2 pant sizes in 2 1/2 months. You can do it Smiley smile

And you can always schedule another photo shoot to replace the photos you don't like later on. Call it an "I got skinny" photo shoot!

I like the i got skinny idea lol yea... it's just hard because my fiance is a dietitian so i thought it'd be easy to lose the weight. he's perked me up after my outrageous meltdown saying from now on we're not going to eat out and he's going to analyze my diet for maximum weight loss.

I'm at that "I can't believe I got so fat phase"...

It is hard having a dietician in the family… my brother's always analyzing what I eat. He can be a bit annoying. It is great that you have that resource though! Make sure he's teaching you about healthy habits instead of just telling you what to do. You have to be the one to make the decisions about what to eat and how to work out. Part of what keeps me going is learning how food works together and how I should portion things out, and when to eat. It's interesting!

Yea it's a blessing and a curse. i'm super critical of everything in regards to what I eat, how I look, and how he may perceive my habits. he's too nice to say anything (good thing?????), but now that he knows i really want his help i think he may be more vocal.

I understand your feelings. After all, every girl wanna be the most beautiful bride at her wedding feast. However, you can use them as your motivation to loose weight. To be honest, loosing weight is not easy. But you should believe yourself and you'll be successful later. Good luck to you!

I want to see them too because what you see and what people see is different we tend to point out all of our own flaws so I bet they are not as bad as you think.

I agree with Kimberly M use your pics as motivation. I also have low self esteem and I have been dieting for the past couple months and I have to say at first I didnt see any progress but this morning when i put on my work pants I see a pooch in my pants. Now that I see a change it is motivating me to continue.

You have the support from all of us ladies as well as your FH.

It's funny you posted this. I have a sort of love hate relationship with my e pics too! I hadn't been trying to lose weight because I wasn't unhappy with the way I looked but after taking those pictures and getting them back I'm on a super diet. I will look GREAT on my wedding day and on the pictures. Heck we are spending to much money on pictures for me to hate them.

I've always had problems with my weight/self esteem it doesn't help that I went from a size 7 to almost a 20 in less than a year either but my FH tells me he loves me the way I am and if I feel I need to lose weight he will help me the best he can and stand with me and possible diet with me so I don't feel so alone with it.

I wasn't over joyed at my wedding photos, there were a few I liked like the one I have for my profile pic but I didn't have my veil on and my bouque got left behind so it didn't get in the firedepartment pictures either. I'm thing about photoshoping it in some lol i'm very good with photoshop.

I also workout really hard on my arms s they would look nice and not flabby and I think they look horribe in all my wedding pics.
