*I have an A-Line Dress- what veil should I choose?*

Irene, on April 14, 2011 at 11:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Hi everyone I have an A-Line dress see below it has a really long train and am thinking of doing a fingertip length veil, but thought maybe a cathedral length would be better any thoughts?

Of course I'm speaking from a photographer's standpoint...but it's also a personal preference as well. Cathedral length veils are wonderful for photos. It's something you might consider. So many more creative shots can be taken with a longer veil. With a longer train on your gown, it would look beautiful. Smiley smile

How much detail is on the back of your gown?

Cathedrals look amazing in pictures (Jacques! Post your pics!)

Also, do you plan on wearing it during the reception?

If you are having a very formal wedding cathedral may be more appropriate. But it also depends on the detail of the train.

If the train has a lot of detail and you want a cathedral veil, pick a more "plain" one so they don't clash. One with ribbon edging or a very tiny amount of lace...

I prefer a fingertip veil personally, and I think the dress would look fine with either.

I would go fingertip with that dress. I just don't like the idea of covering up the back of a beautiful gown with some tulle. Here's my gown and I went with fingertip so as not to hide the beautiful back of the gown or train.

It depends. I am having the same debate. I did try on a chapel length veil at DB and with all the twisting and turning got all tangled up in it. So if I go with the long veil I will not wear it for very long. Before you decide, think about if you are just going to wear it for the ceremony or if you are going to keep it on for awhile. If you're wearing the veil for the reception I'd go with the fingertip. Also have you considered a waltz lenth. A little longer than a finger tip so gives you a little more drama.

Thanks Everyone am highly considering the cathedral length now- the back of my dress has some detail but its all the way on the edges of he train and it swoops up a bit like and arrow- I am definitely not planning on wearing all night- and since I'm getting married in a cathedral I wanted to look the part :-)

If you decide on a Cathedral length that is not too wide - between 72"-96" - the fabric is sheer enough to let any detail show through.

I agree photos with Cathedral Veils are gorgeous and would be stunning with your gown.

The best thing to do is try on different veil styles with your dress. Good luck and have fun with the process.

My train is almost as long as yours and I chose a cathedral veil that goes almost to the end of the train but not quite so it doesn't cover up the edge beading but it looks amaizing.
