There are no rules. I'm using an Instrumental, but plenty of brides use either. Just make sure the lyrics are appropriate for a wedding.. I've seen some questionable song choices on YouTube 😆

I am also using instrumental, but I've seen plenty use songs with vocals. Just make sure the lyrics match the vibe you're going for, I've seen songs that definitely shouldn't have been at a wedding.

Go on YouTube and search wedding ceremony songs. You will find lots of inspiration there. Many contemporary songs can be played as instrumentals. For example, 1000 years by Christina Perri is beautiful as an instrumental. Here's a video...

Perhaps you can find a song that really resonates with your relationship and your experience. I’m doing Etta James at last because that articulates is entirely and it’s his favorite song He had no idea I’m walking down to that song so I will surprise him.

I’m doing one with lyrics! But I think either is totally fine!

It’s entirely personal preference. Unless you have a mile long aisle, even with walking slow, it won’t take more than 30-45 seconds for your entire walk.

Hello! Current bride and former wedding musician here!

You should go with whatever feels most right and exciting for you and your partner - BUT! Even though I've absolutely sung vocals for plenty of wedding processions, I'd recommend instrumental. Vocals can be a bit distracting. If you go instrumental, the song you choose will still be special, but the music will set the tone rather than draw attention from you and your partner. Instrumentals are also much more flexible - if it doesn't take you long to walk down the aisle, it can fade out subtly once you're at the altar, you won't be standing up there waiting for the chorus to wrap up.

I don't think there are any rules. I am going to walk down to an instrumental version of Thousand Years.
