I will be 40 in a couple of years. I have never been selected to be in a wedding party by friends or relatives. It's something I have always wanted to experience. I see people spending a lot of money to go on vacations overseas and cross off things from the bucket list. I would be willing to spend extra money to get to be a bridesmaid in somebody's wedding in order to accomplish the goal that I want. I've tried reaching out to wedding and event planners in my state and while they say they will keep my info on file in case someone needs a bridesmaid, I know they aren't really aren't serious. I have decided to reach out on multiple platforms to see if someone can help me accomplish the goal I have. I really want to accomplish it before 2025.

Ten of my closest friends have gotten married. I have known most of them since childhood or high school. My only sister has never been married and my brother didn’t have siblings in his wedding. I also have several cousins who I’m close to who didn’t ask me. I know you like others think i'm weird and that's ok. I just wanted the experience of being in a wedding party for a loved one and didn't get it. I don't care if I have to buy a spot in a stranger's wedding.

Well, it sounds like that offer has been made. It looks as though a bride on this form has already offered you a “bridesmaid for pay” position in her wedding! So it looks like this item can be checked off your bucket list. I am glad the two of you were able to connect on this forum and enter a mutually beneficial situationship. I hope it goes well for both of you, and that you get what you have been searching for out of the experience!

I got in contact with that person and due to certain circumstances in her life, we aren't going through with the offer. I will no go into details, but I'm still looking for an offer and ideal situation that work for myself and the other party.

Yeah, unfortunately my mom who is my conservator said absolutely no when I told her I would get money from her (since she is in charge of my money and would get suspicious if a huge amount that isn't my disability check comes into my account) because she wanted to be in my wedding and how I shouldn't be so trusting of internet randos even though I met my husband on a Godzilla Discord... sigh... I am so sorry about that... I really wanted to help...

Your mother is right. Don't trust internet randos.

I don't know, I met a lot of friends on the internet that I ended up eventually meeting in real life including my husband. This wouldn't have been my first time, I probably should have just lied and said she was a friend from college and that the money she was giving me was a wedding gift or something. Now I feel like an idiot for being honest.

You weren't an idiot, you were smart. Your husband was a much different story. He wasn't online to convince someone to take money to be in their wedding party. There are a lot of scammers out there. First they claim they want to give you money, then they end up taking it. Listen to your mother.

I don't think she is a scammer, I have pretty good gut instincts and she seems like a person who just really wants to experience being a bridesmaid. She never asked me for my credit card or anything like that, if she did I would say no. I would have probably asked her to write me a check or Venmo me the money.
