i kind of hate my venue...

Jordan, on April 3, 2019 at 2:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

I went to tour my venue back in January and absolutely fell in love. Just my mom and I went and when I got home I convinced my fiance that it was the one. They had 2 options for ballrooms and I chose a smaller more intimate ballroom. Well, last week, we went to our menu tasting and I saw our ballroom again and just hated it. I may be over exaggerating by saying hate but I just, ugh. It seems too small now when I look at it. I want a big party with lots of dancing and the dance floor seams too small and the tables look squished together. I'm feeling so deflated and don't really know what to do. I may just be having second thoughts because everything is happening so fast but I just don't know how to get rid of this feeling...

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way! Can you talk to your venue about moving it to the bigger ballroom?

    Agreed.

That said, it doesn't look small or squished! What's capacity and how many are you inviting? And how many are in that picture? Perhaps that will make you feel better.

    How was the menu tasting?!

I think that is beautiful! I think you're just getting in your head, try and remember what you loved about it when you first picked it! That dance floor looks huge compared to mine and I want a big party too! Those chairs are gorgeous and will be so beautiful in your colors!

Those tables don’t look squished together to me. How many people does the ballroom fit and how many guests are you having?

I think this looks huge! I feel like most weddings are way more cramped and have at least 10 people at each round. It's all perspective. I hope you fall in love with it again for your big day.

I don't know how many guests you are expecting, but this room doesn't seem small to me at all. I think there is a good amount of space between the tables. I've been to plenty of weddings where things were a lot more squished together. This looks bigger than my reception room, and we're having 80-100 guests.

I'm sorry you're having venue regret. I wish there was something more I could say to ease your distress. But I think it looks like a lovely room.

It looks gorgeous and spacious. We are going to have to move tables out of the way for people to dance at my venue which apparently is no big deal and they do it all the time.

At this point my budget wouldn’t allow it. I used the extra money on flowers, etc. I would have needed less flowers had I chosen the larger ballroom because my reception and ceremony would have been in the same room. Now they are in separate rooms.

I think the spacing looks perfect! Not sure how many people you plan on having but in my opinion when the room is TOO big, and you don't have enough "stuff" filling it up it feels empty and awkward.

I also think having reception and ceremony in separate rooms is better! So you're winning on both fronts.

Also remember that lighting makes all the difference, your room will have a different feel with some up-lighting, it helps with the "party" atmosphere too.

They say it can fit 200 and I’m having 150. Idk, it just looks so small 😢 I may just be in my head about it.

I think this is the size of my chosen venue. It holds up to 250 though. We’re having 125 guests. I love the idea of having your ceremony is a different room as well. I think you just might be second guessing since you’re so close to the wedding. It seems like a thing the bride goes through is to second guess at least one big purchase before the big day.

I don't think the tables look squished! How many guests are you hoping to fit in that room?

It looks nice! How many guests do they recommend fit in the space, and how many do you expect you'll have?

Have you considered special lighting to set the mood and help you love your venue again? Some dramatic uplighting can totally transform a space!

I think it looks great! Don't worry too much about the dance floor. Those things really want to be smaller than most people think. It's better to have a slightly crowded dance floor than one that feels like a big open stage. People feel more comfortable dancing that way. If it's supposed to hold 200 people with the dance floor in place, you should feel quite comfortable with 150.

Can you ask for the bigger ballroom? How many people do you have at each table? Decorate it up with centerpieces and ask for a larger dancefloor

At this point I really can’t afford the bigger ballroom. It’s only 2k more but I neglected to set a real budget and this wedding is getting out of control! I’m going to try to make the best of what I’ve got at this point but it’s really stressing me out!

The tasting was actually amazing! It's a great all inclusive venue, I just think that I chose the wrong room but I will try to make the best of it.
