I miss my curves ...downside of weight loss?

Mrs Miller (Zahra), on May 28, 2011 at 1:50 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 7

Everyone seems to be doing so well with their weight loss and very excited about it - which is awesome - but I was wondering if there was anyone with mixed feelings about it.

I have recently lost a lot of weight too but mine was in response to a medical condition (it just so happened to coincide that I found out about it a few months after getting engaged so everyone assumed it was the wedding which was fine with me).

Anyway, I had always been relatively comfortable with my (former) size. Unlike in America, in the Caribbean (which is where I'm from), round and soft is more attractive than flat and hard. For me, even though I love wearing clothes that I never could before - at the same time, I miss my curves. I had previously loved my C cups and hips but now both are smaller. FH is super supportive but sometimes I'm not as happy with my new body as everybody expects me to be. Anyone else with mixed feelings?

Zahra, I understand. as a result of a perforated colon and 29 days in the hospital, I lost 30 lbs in that time. when I came home, everyone kept saying how great I looked bc of the weight loss. i felt emaciated, felt like I looked sickly and really felt that way. I was confused with the results.

Well it ended up destroying my metabolism. I quit smoking since then and have gained weight! Now I'm like how do i get rid ofit! UGH!!

Oh wow! 30 lbs in 29 days is drastic so I can totally understand your reaction. I am sorry to hear your medical challenges were so serious that you had to be hospitalized for so long (but congrats on quitting smoking regardless of the weight gain) as well. I totally understand the back and forth feeling about the weight though.

Good luck on your weight loss efforts now. It can be frustrating but based on my experience and some of the other stories shared in this forum, slow loss really does seem to be better.

I lost about 40 pounds a couple years ago, went from a C to barely a B. That's my only compliant though lol. My hips, thighs, and butt have been large since I was a child and I wouldn't be able to get rid of them if I lost another 20 pounds, they're permanent, so the fact that my boobs are gone makes me feel less proportionate.

Well at first that is how I felt too (disproportionate and annoyed that the area I loved was one of the first to go) but my hips eventually caught up (even though that was how I had been since a child too). I had a hard time coming to grips with the fact that I don't fill out clothes as strikingly as before (I had a serious hourglass with my hips that I loved) and I am now a strong believer in push-up bras.

On the up side though, sleeveless and short lengths looks better on me so I guess there is some positive.

I have mxed feelings about the whole weght thing. One hand I wanna lose some weght for the weddiing then on the other hand I don't because I love the way i look with my curves. FH love the me now. He says dont lose too much weight I dont want you to look like a toothpick. lol. That makes it that much easier so far in 2 months I have lost 25 lbs thankfully it as all n my stomach and legs. I am seriously thinking about slowing down on the weight loss.

Push up bras is the best. lol

I've never ever been big, but over the past two years i lost about 10 pounds due to stress, being busy, etc. I swear all that weight came from my boobs and butt! I was so sad i lost them Smiley sad though, my jeans aren't so tight and my tummy's a bit flatter... Smiley winking

I wear a 36 DDD. And even when I lose weight, my boobs don't go anywhere. So, I can be little everywhere else, but, my boobs stay the same. The proportion just doesnt mix to well. lol. But, thats the only complaint I have with weight loss. It's something I get over (I am only 10 pounds away from my goal weight) but I still feel like i look out of proportion.
