I need favor ideas for my Tim Burton wedding...

Mandy, on July 10, 2010 at 7:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 36

As most of you know, I am getting married this Halloween, but instead of being themed "Halloween" the wedding is themed after Time Burton movies. Specifically, The Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, & The Nightmare Before Christmas. Any ideas on stuff I could put in the favor bags?

P.S. For those of you who haven't seen my wedding blog yet, here is the link: http://mandycongiardo.blogspot.com/

    DVDs? Give each person 1 of the 3 movies? Not sure how big your wedding is/if you could get them at a discount...maybe contact Tim Burton's PR to order in bulk. Friends of ours did this when they did a movie-themed wedding, and they actually got their favors (DVDs) for FREE, so long as they included a card saying "Brought to you by the production team of _____. Always worth a try!

    @ Danielle, they got them for free?! My guest list is only about 80-90 people, does that help or hinder my chance of getting them for free? I don't think I could afford 80-90 dvds, but if I got them for free that would be an awesome favor! Thanks for the idea, I guess I need to research. Wait, what is a PR?

    Yup, FREE! She had 75 guests. PR is public relations. If Tim Burton has an official website (I'm thinking he does...) look for a "contact us" tab. If it's just an e-mail thing, ask them if they have any ideas for wedding favors, because you LOVE his work, and are doing a Burton themed wedding. See what they respond with Smiley smile If you call them, explain that you are very interested in asking them about favor ideas for your Burton themed wedding, and is there anything that they might be able to give you? It may seem cheap to ask for that, but the reality is, you're never gonna talk to these people again so who gives a hoot if they say no! That's how she got hers.

    Hmmm....now might be a good time to use Google. I'm sure there's a way to find his PR. Even look at a movie case...there's GOT to be a way to contact him.

    Tim Burton Productions

    8033 Sunset Boulevard

    Suite 7500

    West Hollywood, CA 90046

    Phone: 310-300-1670

    I work in the media, so I call offices like this all the time. Best way to go about it would be something like this:

    "Hi, my name is Amanda P. and I'm calling because I'm currently in the process of planning my wedding for this Halloween and I'm hoping to incorporate Tim Burton's films into my theme and I wondering if you could point me in the direction of someone who might be able to help with wedding favors for my guests."

    Just see what they have to say. It's worth a try!

    That's where I just got the address/phone number from. I would. Worst that can happen is that you call and it's not them.

    @Danielle - what a great idea!

    @Shana R. - Great pointers on how to go about making contact.

    This is exactly what forums like this are for....so many people with a variety of ideas and contacts.

    @Amanda P. - I love your theme.

    I googled the numbers & the actually come up to who their listed for. This might be legit. I didn't think it would be this easy. Wait, maybe I need to wait till Monday before I start jumping up & down.

    @ Kathy, thank you so much! I love it too! I can't wait till my wedding day!

    Did I mention that I once had a dream that Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter, & Johnny Depp attended my wedding. Dreams, huh?!

    Another cute idea would be to make DIY picture frames, buy wooden plain ones in bulk, then paint them in your wedding colors. Then, inside, instead of a picture of you... have a small print out of one of Tim Burton's various artworks or pictures of characters from the movies. Label each picture with (for example) P&S Wedding #001, each guest will have one with a different number... so it's like a collector's edition wedding favor ^_^

    The frames are pretty expensive, but what about the picture keychains? I think that would be awesome!
