I need help thinking of flower-less aisle decorations!

TheFutureMrsD, on November 16, 2013 at 11:38 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21

I had it all figured out, the wedding is three days after Christmas and the church was still going to have the Christmas decorations up so we decided to just use ornaments and garland. But I was just told that the church has decided to take their decorations down right after Christmas and now I need new aisle decorations because the ornaments will just look out of place without other Christmas decor. I can't afford real flowers and I don't like the look of the fake ones that I can afford. I am completely drawing a blank on what to use for the aisle! Any ideas??

Have you tried asking them if they will leave them up for a couple extra days? you could buy tulle ribbons and tie bows on the pews. and have you tried looking at wholesale flowers from sams/costco? you can get about 100 stems from between $80 and $120 depending on what flower

What about tulle or ribbon pomanders instead?

Maybe Christmas lights or candles? You could probably also get fake garlands for pretty cheap at craft stores.

What about candles or lanterns? You can definitely dress them up!

You can still use your garland. It's a winter wedding, so the use of evergreen garland is completely appropriate. I might hot glue on some white, silver, or glittered ornaments (stay away from red and green), as well as attaching glittery snowflakes and strands of pearls. Anything that says winter, but not Christmas, will work. You can get everything you need on December 26 at any craft or store that sells Christmas decor. It will probably be 75% off, so you can get lots.

Also, don't know what you're doing about centerpieces, but since it looks like you're not doing flowers, this idea might go well with the evergreen and white (or even a few at the ceremony):

You could add some wreaths to your decor. There are lots of cute DIY options online for those and they don't need to be super Christmas-y if you don't want them to.

I love lanterns! And if you have an IKEA near you, I just saw them there for 7.50, much cheaper than most other places!

Thanks for all the good ideas! Unfortunately, the church does not allow me to use candles in the center aisle Smiley sad and I'm not sure, but I think I remember them saying no to any on the floor aisle decorations

Those candles that are fake would look nice in a frosted glass.

Abby, those are really nice! I'm usually not a fan of the tulle decorations as markers, but those are done so nicely!

Your church probably doesn't allow real, lit candles for safety reasons. Battery-powered candles should be fine.

Pew decorations?! That's something I need to think about, too?

The simple and pretty ribbons or tulle would be cute. Something on string/twine/ribbon that would go on and off easily would be best I think. Who is setting up and taking them down for you?

Sprinkle fake snow along the edges of the aisle? too cheesy? I think draped fabric could be really very elegant, or small lanterns along the aisle

Lindsay, I'm with you, tulle is not my favorite. And I wasn't going to do pew decorations at all, but this might just be too pretty and easy. I mean, what ya think, two minutes to set up and tear down? And I found tulle online for sooooo fricken cheap, like $5 for 30 yards.

Im doing something similar to Abby's pic, except mine will have flowers. but same concept. Its very simple, very cheap, and very easy to set up and take down. Plus it doesnt have any chance of damaging the pews either. Here's mine

Do you have a picture of your church - maybe it doesn't NEED anything.
