I need help with my arch!

Mikayla, on June 9, 2016 at 9:02 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 15

Okay so I would like to decorate my arch like the first picture but I don't know where the heck to get fabric long enough for this and wide enough. I attached a pic of the arch at my venue in the comments. It is 7ft tall and 11 ft wide. Any suggestions would be super helpful! Or if you have any other ideas for decorations that would be great too. I don't want to spend too much on decorating it because the outdoor part where we are having the ceremony is already so beautiful and I'd like to place the money somewhere else.

Try organza! It's like tulle but drapes better.

Joann's fabric. They always have coupons online to use in the store!

Seriously looks like drapes. Otherwise go to the fabric store!

You'll need to measure from the ground, up the arch and swooping down like how you want the fabric to hang, then all the way down the other side of the arch to the ground. This'll give you the total length you'll need. Joann Fabric

JoAnn's Fabric might have something to use, look for fabric 108inches or wider, you may even have to buy a bolt depending on how much length you need. Have you tried contacting locally decorating companies? Many of them drape and it's surprisingly affordable in my area.

Try Joann or Hancock. Just take the picture in to any fabric store and they should able to help you find something!

It may sound weird, but have you thought of actually buying curtains? JCPenney has a line of sheers that go to 108" and they're pretty inexpensive (as far as curtains go) they may be something to consider if you don't want to hem/finish fabric yourself.

This is ceremony draping at my venue and costs $75. For me to buy the fabric and rent the lift to drape would cost more than $75....good luck! ETA- highest point is 10feet and its 28feet wide for reference

Try calling theatrical supply stores. Years ago I got a super wide bolt of muslin for a backdrop. I can't remember the name of it but it was out of Chicago and definitely a stage/theatrical supply store.

Hey check out the thread that asked about lanterns there was something posted about I think it's called tobacco cloth and apparently really good for draping!

Perhaps you already know, but based on the wording in your question I thought I would add- I think you can just use the standard width fabric. It looks like four columns of fabric were used on the arch in your picture. That's much easier and less expensive than finding an exceptionally wide roll. JoAnn fabric will likely have the best selection

I was gonna suggest Walmart too for fabric or actual curtains.

I am doing that same picture for my wedding to go over some barn doors. I bought adorable lace curtains from ikea that are 57x98" and look perfect! The curtains were only about $12 a set too and you can always use 2 panels on each side to get the width you need.

Check out tableclothfactory.com. They have huge bolts for cheap. For example, I'm buying their ivory tulle (108" x 50yd) for $37 !
