Don't quit. Remember that, especially when you're first starting off, consistency is more important than intensity. Just keep moving every day.

Don't try to change everything all at once. That's just too much. Start cutting out the bad stuff until it's gone. Start exercising enough to sweat, but not much more - injuries = laid up = no weight loss, maybe gain. Step it up little by little.

It may be best to make one change per week, and once you feel like you've started down the road, make one diet and one exercise change (for the better) per week until you're at a place where you're really making progress. Can you replace 1 meal with a protein shake?

My biggest problem with weight loss is that I want to do it all at once so I can do it in as short a time as possible. But you have to recognize that you can't just flip a switch and have totally changed diet and exercise habits overnight. Stick with it, and you'll get there!

Being in a rush to lose weight is a recipe for failure. You will not see change fast enough, you will get discouraged and you will quit.

Instead of focusing on losing weight, focus on being healthy and changing your lifestyle for good. Find a healthy food plan you can work with and work out daily. Mix weight training in with cardio.

And do not weigh yourself. When you are working out you are building muscle so lbs don't come off right away. Inches do. You will notice a difference after a few weeks in how your clothes fit. Keep in mind, a healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week. That means working off or cutting out of your diet **** calories a week. That is a lot. Don't try to lose more than that.

I agree with Pumpkin's Sunshine, Losing weight at too fast of a rate, will deprive your body and you won't keep the weight off. I think when you are starting off, you should have an initial weigh in and then after about a month, weigh yourself. And keep yourself in check by weighing in once a week. I found that weighing in on a monday or tuesday really keeps you in check for the weekend (my weekends are my downfalls)

I also found that journaling helps when you are trying to lose weight, you eat it you write it. If you don't wanna write down the 250 calorie candy bar, you won't eat it. And if you feel like you are craving chocolate (as most women do) it's ok to have a little bit, I like the dove dark chocolate-- it is sweet, but not too sweet and they are so much better for ya. Friend me on here for more tips!

Do not give up! You can do this! Even if you dont lose alot you will still look gorgeous! I have been doing a weight management program that is amazing. I have tried everything!!! Nothing ever worked it but I started the MonaVie RVL program and have seen amazing results. My friend lost 35lbs on it so far and there are so many other people using this program too. Basically you substitute the chocolate or vanilla flavored shake and take the all natural pills that contain vegtables that you dont recieve in the shake (which is also all natural) then you have a normal meal at the end of the day (or whenever you want to have a meal) and you can even snack on their chocolate bar or yougurt and berry bar. You should definitely check it out.

Weight loss is tough, and like everyone has said, it takes time. Try not to get discouraged!

    1. exercise daily, even if its just walking, or doing some great body weight exercises in your living room

    2. eat healthy, little snacks throughout the day, avoid a big dinner. The best thing is to eat about 6 meals - apple with peanut butter, yogurt and granola, etc. This way your body is always working on digesting and using the nutrients from the food, and doesn't get the 'i'm hungry' feeling, and you won't feel the urge to eat a huge meal.

    3. agreed - don't weigh yourself. Muscle weighs more than fat, so the number can be deceiving. You'll see results in the way your clothes fit, and how you feel - which is more important!

    4. It might be easier if you have someone to work out with - walking at lunch when at work with a co-worker, taking a class at a gym with your FH or friend! Make the workout fun!

Good luck, and just remember to keep your eye on the prize!

Whatever you do don't do any fad diets, you have to change your life not go on a crash diet. Any crash diet is a recipe for disaster and not healthy in the long run. You need to clean out your pantry and eliminate anything that's not healthy and replace it with fruits, veggies, lean meats, etc...

Go to the gym, work out, don't chat with friends while there, don't slack, when you feel yourself getting tired push harder, do 10 more minutes.

The keys to staying fit for me were diet and variation. I eat a clean diet that doesn't consist of processed food or drinks. I drink green tea, and water. Everything I eat (aside from occasionally dining out, of course) is simple and fresh. This is hard for Americans because if you go into any grocery store, most everything is packaged into fast and easy meals with deceptive labels like "Lean" or "Healthy choice" when it is anything but good for you and virtually empty of vitamins and nutrients. When I work out, I switch it up. I spin. I've started pole dancing (which is SO FUN), I do free weights, sports cardio. Don't be afraid of weights - they are essential to changing the shape of your body and muscle BURNS CALORIES. You can do it - but be prepared for a lifestyle overhaul that you can implement in little steps at a time.

You're talking to the girl who ate Taco Bell three times a week, lived on Diet Coke and ciggies. Now I feel like a million bucks. :-)

One more suggestion - not sure it's new. Keep a log of EVERYTHING you eat and every bit of exercise you do. It sounds tedious and ridiculous, but it is an amazingly helpful tool. First, you can see how you are (likely) underestimating how much you are eating and how many calories you are taking in. Second, you can track your improvements. So when you go to beat yourself up because you broke down and ate something you shouldn't have on week 3 of your diet, you can see that you're still doing so much better than you were 3 weeks ago.

So much of weight loss, at least for me, is in my mind. The log / journal forces you to deal with facts, so you don't cheat yourself and you don't beat up on yourself unnecessarily.

    Good luck!
