I officially hate receiving RSVPs

Mrs.L, on August 7, 2013 at 11:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 50

Look what I got today. Clever. People don't know how to write their names.

This is why i am SOOOO glad that I numbered each RSVP on the back and wrote a name with that number.

At least it's a decline and not an accept bright side right?

I was so proud of myself for numbering them. Like 6 people did this to me soooo it was a life saver.

Right? I also wanted (and wrote) for them to initial what each person wanted... about 10 people actually did.

That is another issue! Even though they RSVPd- there are still people im going to have to call anyways and figure out who wants what to eat. I should I have really did things a lot different. Lol. Its so ridiculous it's almost funny.

So I live in the south where people seem to think RSVP cards are more of a suggestion to return & I've had multiple people tell me that they aren't necessary...how do you feel about no rsvp cards? My FH thinks we can go down the list and pretty much guesstimate who all is going to come & its buffet style so it shouldn't matter that much.

Trying to guesstimate seating arrangements and planning a seating chart can be a lot of stress without an exact number, though!

I think since its buffet style it isn't so bad without them. But, if you are going to do assigned seating it might be a good idea. Even if you are not doing assigned seating it is better to know the closest possible number to know how many chairs and tables you will be needing. You will also need to know how many favors (if you are giving them out).

It really is your choice. You just have to take a lot of things into consideration. Like does your venue require a minimum number of people? Are you paying per person (I know you said it is a buffet style) but sometimes venues are all inclusive and need to know how many tables, chairs, linens, etc. (everything and more I listed above).

I made my rsvp's so i put everyone's name on them so i didn't have this issue. Hopefully everyone else will remember so you know who this was from

I also did my own rsvp's and wrote the persons name so no issue there. I hope you figure out who declined.

This just solidifies my desire to put the names of those invited on the card. I think I'll be doing something like:

Mr. Dick Jones (check box) accepts (check box) declines with regrets, and would like the (check box) vegan option (check box) fish option.

Mrs. Jane Jones (check box) accepts (check box) declines with regrets, and would like the (check box) vegan option (check box) fish option.

And so on... that way, it's also more difficult for them to "write in" guests. I'm just worried about how cramped this will be for the larger families on my list, but I don't see any other way to do it!

    Hi Felicia,

This is something that I NEVER thought about, so thank you for venting about this because my RSVP'S are on their way to my house to be filled out and I will definitely number them after seeing this.
