I stalked my registry..and was shocked at what I found..

FMS, the barefoot wife!, on June 1, 2010 at 1:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 24

I decided to check on our registry, make sure nothing was discontinued and what not (and maybe to see if our family freind bought us anything, yes, I know, naughty me..) He (or someone) bought us the $170 knife block and set..This may sound weird but I was hoping that if the family freind (from Germany) bought us anything, it wouldn't be one of the pricier items, because then I would (and do) feel guilty as they won't be att the wedding..Anyone else get pangs of guilt while stallking their registry?

Sometimes I feel guilty because we're registered at three different places and no one thing has been purchased. But then I remind myself a) that's selfish and b) it's not time for people to do that yet.

I feel guilty too! My church is throwing a shower for me, which I was really excited about, but then I started feeling really guilty since there is no way we will be able to invite all of them to the wedding. I told my FH to tell the pastor to tell them they don't need to get us gifts.

I would feel horrible if someone spent a lot of money on us and then we couldnt even offer them an invite. I would love to just celebrate the engagement with all of them instead of looking like I'm just trying to get gifts from them.

Haha, FMS you're too funny. I've haven't stalked our registry yet just because no one knows where we're registered which is at 4 places. But that's only because 1 of the places, macys, is the ONLY place that carries the towels we really like.

Try being registered at three different places, posting it on your website and having it in your bridal shower invites, and yet no gifts at all..keep in mind, my shower is this weekend. I know people have gotten gifts, my mom already has three from some who cant attend along with my sister holding some already, but i guess either they didnt get stuff off our registry, or they didn't mark it off when they bought it.

I think alot of people look at what on your registry and then find it else where because it's possibly cheaper?

I confess, I stalk ours, too. Hey, looks like we're getting 1 place setting of china! Awesome! I know... I've still got 39 days to go... but it sure does seem like the weirdest things get purchased.

I don't feel guilty at all and neither should anyone else. People are going to get you what they can afford. As long as you have multiple price points, it makes it easy for everyone.

I check my registries every so often to delete anything that has been discontinued and/or add new releases. I really doubt I will get anything from our registries to be honest. My family gives cash and gift cards. I cant remember the last time I actually got a gift that didnt fit into an envelope.

I stalk my friends registries that are getting married, now that I can't stalk my own!! Hehe...Anyway, don't feel guilty about what people buy you--they buy what they feel comfortable buying--its not like you said "hey you person...buy me this OR ELSE!" haha. =)

How gracious of your friends! No one made them make the purchase they did, so just thatnk them for their very generous & useful gift.

BTW - stalking is smart - I found out 3 days before my wedding that my china had been discontinued & we had to choose another at that late date. I only got one setting! On the other hand, because of that I got a full set of my everyday which has lasted 25 years now (and its still sold!)

@ Bedi, I have also purchased items off a registry at a different place because it was cheaper BUT I also thought abouut taking my reciept in the the store they were registered at and say "Look, I bought this item for so and so at this store because it was cheaper than here. Can youplease takeit off their registry so they don't get double?""

I havent' checked my registry at all. For some reason I don't think that people will check it out or buy us too much stuff. My FH is really good about saving money so a lot of his family tries to pretend we're rich. Which we're not, we just live BELOW our means so that we can treat each other good.

So, only one person asked us where we were registered...
