I walked into David's Bridal a size 24

Tammy, on April 16, 2012 at 4:35 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 16

And came out a size 20. I went to David's Bridal Saturday and was trying on size 24 dresses. They were way too big. Come to find out, I'm a size 20. But size 20 in stores doesn't fit. I thought they said Db's Dresses runs small. I changed my eating habits a little; eating smaller portions, and instead of a snickers bar, I'd have a fiber one. I guess I'm loosing. I try staying off the scales because they can get discouraging. Has this happen to anyone else?

I do not pay attention to my scale. I started working out and eating better daily, I lost 3lbs...and not a pound since..I've been maintaining BUT I am noticing a difference in my clothes...I was between sizes and now the smaller of the two sizes is fitting perfect, so I go by how my clothes fit versus what the scale says.

It happened to me a long time ago, but i was trying to lose weight. My 14's were too big, but I was afraid to go buy new jeans because I was afraid of being disappointed that 12's would be too tight. I went anyway because I couldn't stand holding my pants up when I walked anymore. I went to ON and tried on jeans and ended up being a 10! Best try-on moment of my life.

Congrats to you on your surprise weight loss. If you keep doing what you're doing, you'll be seeing a lot more of it!

I also think DB sizes greatly depend on your body shape/dress shape. My little sister is a size 14 but had to try on size 18 bridesmaids dresses to fit... While I am between a 22 and 24 and the 24s at DB were too big. and I was trying on dresses that were 22 or 20s even...

Thanks Carole!! I was just as excited when the bridal consultant said, "um, sorry to inform you honey, but you're not a 24...you're a 20." I almost hit the roof!

Depends on the material it's made out of. I got a chiffon dress from there and it was a 22 and when I went back since I hated it 8 months later I was in a 20 and it will need fitted.

DB's dresses fit different on different bodies. When I tried on dresses, they had me try on a size 26 to 28, and did not like any of the stryles. However I got my dress from Stella's Bridal a size 24 perfect fit, with minimal alterations.

I didnt get my dress from davids bridal, but I do stay way from scales. I exercise with Zumba and walking and changed my eating habits. Ive dropped from a size 22 to an 18 so I am very pleased with my results. But it is true what the other brides have said, different dress fit different depending on a womans body. I tried on size 20 and 22 dresses and ended up buying a 18 that fit perfect.

That happened to me, too!!! My Bridesmaid dress (for when my sister got married) was a 24 and when I walked into David's Bridal, I was a size 20. I'm rather excited about that!!!!

I had a great try on moment too... I noticed that my size 12 jeans were baggy and so my mom and I went shopping. lol She kept having to get a smaller size. Ended up I fit into a size 4!

But that was a couple 3 or 4 years ago and now I am a very happy size 12 again.
