Depending on how serious you are, check out if there's an Ideal Protein clinic/nutritionist near you. It's an investment but it really works and you learn a ton, so you're more likely to keep the weight off.

@Sarah be careful with Soylent. It was recently banned in Canada due to not being nutritionally sound

I've lost 25 pounds with 21 day fix program! Super easy to follow, and I wasn't even extremely strict with it!

Hi Nicole, good thing is to lose weight you don't need to follow any sort of "plan", "diet", or join any "program" like WW or 21DF. Weight loss is an equation. Calories in v. Calories out. Your body burns a certain number of calories each day. You burn calories simply existing (BMR) plus the calories you burn from physical activity (walking, exercise). Together, this is called your TDEE. There are many TDEE calculators online that can tell you an estimate of the number of calories your body burns per day. You enter you weight/height/age/gender/activity and out pops a number.

To lose weight all you need to do is eat less than that number of calories.

You don't need low carb. You don't need paleo. You don't need to eat just egg salad and cold cuts. You don't need meal replacements, smoothies, or juices. You certainly don't need cleanses.

You can eat whatever you want... just less.

Now, disclaimer is that weight loss and eating for health are two separate things. I lost 130 pounds just by eating smaller portions and eating below my TDEE. I still eat ice cream, cake, drink alcohol, pizza, nights out at restaurants. I just make better choices when I do.

How do I keep track of it all? There is an app called MyFitnessPal that will allow you to log your food. I've been logging for nearly 1000 days now. Eventually it just becomes part of your routine.

You can choose healthier and possibly less carbs, not cut them completely, and still "shrink". Most "diets" I've seen that completely cuts things out are hard to keep and are not always healthy, even though you may drop pounds.

Crystal Lite is really good. I buy the packets for my water (because I hate water as well) and I also buy the big packets to make pitchers of it with. Going to a low carb diet will also help you lose weight pretty quickly as long as you keep with it.

I'm eloping in Sept 2018, and I'd like to lose 20 more pounds.

I lost 25 pounds this year. I use MyFitnessPal to log my food, Fitbit to log my steps/water/sleep/etc, and I did a couch to 5k program (turns out, I really love running).

There isn't any secret or magic pill. You can eat whatever you want (within reason), and you don't have to deprive yourself as long as you control portions and work out.

And, I'm going to echo the importance of water. It helps make you feel full. Sometimes, you feel hungry, but you're actually thirsty. I like plain water, but sometimes I'll treat myself and infuse it with a couple slices of apple and a cinnamon stick. Smiley smile And I'll drink a cup of decaf chocolate tea at night when I crave something sweet.

It's worth the improvements to energy levels and sleep quality alone. FH is jealous of how deeply I sleep!

If if you can't exercise because you need to watch the kids, play with them. Get a game of tag going, or play Nintendo sports with them.
