i wear Glasses, should i get contacts?

Carmen, on March 7, 2018 at 11:53 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13
So I have been wearing glasses since 2nd grade. My vision is poor, but I do like the way I look in them, I'm used to them. But I dont want big ol glasses in all my pictures. But with fake eyelashes on it'll rub up against my glasses and theyll be slipping off or you wont even be able to see my eye makeup. I guess Ive never really seen brides with glasses on. Should I get contacts? I hate them and I have a hard time with getting them on but I'm thinking maybe I should practice from now until the wedding. Also I should remind you I hate how I look without glasses lol. Sorry for all the writing ladies but its been on my mind for a while and I can't come to a conclusion.

Talk to your doctor and see if you can wear a trial pair for a few days. I can’t imagine living without my contacts because I’m very active and can’t exercise or play sports with my glasses on. You may get used to the way you look without your glasses. If not, it’s not a big deal and you can wear your glasses.

Can you do shorter lashes so that you get some volume but won't bump up against the lenses? If you like how you look and can't see without them, I'd just wear them. I tried and struggled with contacts for YEARS and never really got comfortable with them.

Do a trial with a MUA to see how your makeup needs to be applied to work with the glasses. You could always take them off for some pics if you want, then put them back on you can, you know, SEE.

Side note: LASIK was the BEST thing I ever did for myself. My only regret was not doing it sooner. I didn't hate my glasses but I didn't love them either, and I'm very active and they really got in the way a lot. I'd highly recommend looking into it to see if you're a candidate. Doesn't necessarily have to be done by the wedding but you will thank yourself. And the cost has come down a lot.

I would try contacts for a few days and if you don't get used to them or don't like them then wear your glasses. I have been wearing contacts for many years and at first the process to get them in and out was fairly difficult. Do what makes you feel and look great.

If you always wear your glasses, and you don’t really plan on wearing contacts in the future except for the wedding, do you think it would be odd to have your only pictures without glasses be your wedding pictures? You could always give contacts a trial run and see how it goes, but definitely go with what is most YOU. You don’t want to look back and not like your wedding pictures because you didn’t wear your glasses. Lots of options to try. Good luck!

I would talk to your doctor. I wear both but contacts can bother you alot if you are not use to them.

If you don’t like the way you look without glasses don’t even bother. You will not like the way you look in pictures. Wear what you’re comfortable with and you will look like yourself on your wedding day.

Talk to your FH. If he ALWAYS sees your with glasses then you should wear them! I talked to mine but my eyes don't sound like they're as bad, so I sometimes walk around the house without them and he said I'd still look like me without them. You can always wear them and just take them off for a few photos?

No! Wear your glasses babe! It's so frustrating to see women/men not feel pretty enough because they wear glasses. If you're used to wearing them, you should wear them! I'm sure you look gorgeous with them on and I feel my eye makeup really pops when I wear my glasses. Like my glasses actually make it look better. You are pretty enough. It's up to you what you want to do, I didn't wear mine but I don't wear them all the time. I'm sure you're gorgeous

Do you. I am a glasses wearer as well and have been wondering the same thing, but my gut instinct is to keep going with what I am comfortable in. I have a hard time keeping my eyes lubricated with contacts and I don't really like the way I look without glasses anymore. Everyone is so used to my appearance. I've seen brides with glasses. Talk to your photographer and let them know your concerns. They have many tricks to make sure make up is seen and there is no glare. In the end, be comfortable. It's a long day and you want to enjoy it, not be miserable.

I'm a firm believer that you are most beautiful when you are comfortable in your own skin. Reach out to your vendors. I'm not getting married until June of 2019, but I have my annual eye appointment this summer. Right now I have transition lenses (OMG HATE THEM!) so I will be thoroughly discussing options for reduced glare and stuff with my eye professionals haha! I also just did family pictures with my old frames I had cheap lenses put in and our photographer was able to position us in a way we had no glare issues. Be comfortable! Good luck and well wishes! ENJOY YOUR DAY!!
